Sad. They all remember eighth but are excited to forget it.

DaBoyz will be a flavor of 8th... Maybe a last hurrah? (sad, and it pains me to say it) I'll always be down for 8th Basementhammer, but the TO's seems likely to jump ship to KoW right meow.

That's really too bad. The general consensus around here is KoW. Me and my buddies enjoy eighth and will continue with it, but as for the TO's around, they all seem to be headed toward KoW too. I haven't ever tried it and it might be a really good game, but I know 8th, I don't just have tons of time to spend experimenting with new systems, and I already have a perfect 8th setup with dedicated friends. If we ever find ourselves with an abundance of time on our hands, sure, we'll probably give it a go, but we mostly just enjoyed adding new kits that came out to our current armies and giving them a try. No more of that I guess.

Anyone here ever try kow? I'll start by saying that I prefer 8th edition warhammer. I have read through the rules, I have watched one game and played one game myself. It was enjoyable. One thing that I will say is a plus for KoW is there are not gray areas in the rules. The rules are written in a manner that you can either do something or you can't. This eliminates taking advantage of a rule in a silly way that is gimmicky. For example clipping (corner to corner unit contact) is not allowed and units have set sizes/formations so conga lines do not exist. Another thing that prior fantasy players like is that the minis/armies are generally similar to warhammer fantasy armies. So to play a game a KoW you can use minis that you already own.

Dan, have you tried the 2nd edition KoW? They really improves it over 1st. On the otherhand, I am looking forward to DaBoyz with Aidan, Rich and anyone else coming along. The rules are 8th with some tweaks to army comp, which is nothing new.

The rules are 8th with some tweaks to army comp, which is nothing new. I think it was second edition but I guess I don't know for sure. It was maybe in July and we used the free rules off of mantics website (which I don't believe are 100% complete). I understand that the actually paper version of the 2nd edition rule book has been hard to come by. I'm not currently looking to get one but at Crossroads Corey had one copy as a raffle prize and people were buying tons of tickets because they said they wanted the book and couldn't find one in stock anywhere.

I have the hardback. I only paid for the softcover. The rules online are complete. It is the army lists that are truncated, I believe. Anyway, enough of that. Are you going to Da Boyz, and what will your army look like?

I know 100% I am going. I think I am playing Empire (Nippon/Cathay).
I would love playability feedback on my list - - - And since I got whalloped at Crossroads, I'll listen extra good to army composition suggestions. List, TBP in about 30 minutes.
