So the story begins, or should we say the battle...
You could still smell the death. The bodies numbered in more that could be afforded. Half of the outpost in ruin and covered in ash.
The rats had turned up from nowhere led by the Grey seer Skreek Yellow-fang. More ruthless then Farveve could remember ever come across before. What brought them here? What brought him here in the middle of Naggaroth? He must be very brave or very desperate...
She didn't have time for this. Her studies were so close to reveal what she's been looking for. Sorceress Farveve Hellblight was sent to Clarak Spire to guard the passage over the plains. But she always thought it was to keep her away. 5 years... She still had not forgotten or forgiven.
She picked up her black amulet and went to the tower. Brist her Dark Pegasus waited for her. She needed to see it for herself. She felt a strange tickling.
The army had already assembled and had been sent to cleanse the outpost from the vermin stench. But Farveve had a feeling she would regret staying back. The old hags didn't look kindly on those reading books when you had a slaughter to attend.
She took to the air. She felt... she wasn't sure what she felt. Excitement?
To be continued:

Farveve woke up couple of days later. She felt ashamed. Very ashamed. The headache was enormous. Blight had returned her unconscious the sisters told her while looking over her wounds. They thought she would die. She might as well have. The council would not appreciate her failure. She will need to finish her report before they arrive. How could she have underestimated Skreek that much? The rats had been digging in the ground for warp stones, a lot of warp stones...

Uh-oh! What happened to Farveve? Those Executioners appear to have dropped rather quickly as well...

Uh-oh! What happened to Farveve? Those Executioners appear to have dropped rather quickly as well... Hope the report is finished tomorrow. But let's say she opted out of using dispell scroll saving 13 executioners. And then fumbled when attacked by the doom wheel all on turn 2.

Doomwheel shooting scares the bejeesus out of me when I'm on the receiving end. It's 3 cannon shots that you can't avoid by being in cc, and they auto hit.
About the only thing you can do is keep a sacrificial unit around to try and make sure it stays closer to the wheel.
That or hope that it rolls low on the strength or rolls a misfire.

As soon as Blight took to the air, Farveve saw the armies taking shape outside the little outpost. Skreeks army was massive, but Farveve still thought the battle would be over quickly. No rats could ever match her power. The Skaven were prepared though. As soon as Farveve reached the battle, they attacked all fronts. Gutter runners popping out of the woods up next to our flank and ruined one of the bolt throwers. Green zaps from the Doom wheel killing two Doomfire warlocks. Massive cannons shooting at the Hydras almost brought them down. But the main threat was the magic. Skreek master an enormous amount of magic. The amount of magic was so overwhelming that it took Farveves huge effort to stop it. But even then Farveve didn't think the battle would be a match for her forces. She still had a lot to learn... On Farveves command all Dark Elves marched forward but as soon as she called it out a massive storm surrounded the battles that made it almost impossible to see and even worse aim a shot. The skill of the elves skill managed to take down enough gutter runners to give them panic and flee but both Dark shards and bolt a bolt thrower was needed. The last bolt thrower aimed for a big wheel seen in the storm but missed. Doomfire Warlocks set speed for the Warp cannon and the Dark riders set out for the other cannon. Farveve set forward to get a better reach with her magic powers. Strangely she thought, she was met with equal strength. When she finally thought she had gained the upper hand with a soul stealer on those unworthy slaves, a dispell scroll showed up from nowhere help out by a puny engineer somewhere else that Farveve had not even given the slightest attention before. When the storm vanished, the rats moved forward shielding their storm vermins with two hordes of slaves and a bell behind them slaves. The doom wheel charged on facing Farveve directly. She could not for the slightest moment think that strange thing could harm her. Then the bell started again, and all the bolt throwers crumbled. What a noise! It distracted her. And after that, Skreek continued as earlier as he had all the power of the world and the stamina to wield it. He scorched the executioner killing almost one-third of the unit and Warp lightning almost took out the Doomfire warlocks, just leaving the master. As if that wasn't enough, the Warp cannon continued their bombardment taking out the Hydra. Farveve stumbled. She was in chock. So when the Dommwheel impact hit her, she fumbled reaching for her dark amulet and got knocked out before even striking a single blow. Farveve had been told the outcome of the battle by some of the few survivors. The fight was a disaster. Even though the master Warlock fought bravely destroying a cannon, he was trapped by a rat dart and died. The Knights got trapped by slaves, and the spears and executioners met insane courageous slaves refusing to break waiting for storm vermins to arrive for their rescue and fighting to last breath. Dark riders took out their Warp Cannon and tried in vain helping out to remove the Knights from the slaves but failed. And the Bell kept rining. Worst fate went to the dark shards. By some awful magic, they all turned to rats. Farveve wondered, where did that Grey Seer get his power from. It was more than she ever had witnessed before. She had heard of Morathi and the great slann in the south wielding that power but never seen it herself. She needs to assembled new warriors and go on a hunt. Next time she would not underestimate her foe.
