We always show number of wounds left on a multi-wound model as that is the number you want to know most of the time. But we only, of course, add a dice when they get wounded as you know the default stats anyway.

Lol, which was the point I was going to make. Not sure about knowing the wounds on every model in the game but I get what your saying. I'm in the if it takes a wound I put a die (usually a d4) next to it showing a single 1. If they take more the number increases.
I'd not ask people who count down to put dice next to every model but logically its something they should do if that's the method they've chosen.

Greg The battle was Ogre Kingdoms vs Dwarfs/Tomb Kings, I think 3k points. I do it the opposite way of you. For example if an ogre or Ushabti takes a wound I'd put a dice showing '2' next to it to show that it now has only 2 wounds left. If a 6 wound giant takes a wound I put a dice showing '5'. The dice number supercedes the normal wound count. When I see a model with a '1' showing dice next to it I immediately think..ah ha, so that miniature only has 1 wound left. I actually have a couple of D20's and other lower denomination above 6 sides dice which I use purely as wound counters for units such as the Glottkin (12 wounds). I've been stuck in my ways for years so no going back now I think.

Hypothetically if a wounded model is healed back to full health then I would remove the 'wound counter' dice as it has gone back to it's normal profile number of wounds.

Anyway....
Getting back to dice etiquette and fads. Someone who I knew used to turn all of his dice up to show a 6 before selecting which ones to roll.
Another picked up the rubbish as I would do but then rolled different duce to the first. So if rolled 20 dice, 10 hit he'd get rid of the misses but select a different 10 to roll to wound as the first lot had used up their luck.
Crazy world we live in.

I have multiple colored packs of dice and when some run of of luck or gets in a bad streak I change.

Greg Yeah, I like little quirks like that though, makes the game/player more fun. If a dice 'fails' me too many times I'll stop using it for a little while in game (put it aside in the naughty corner haha) People have their quirks regardless of activity, a non dice/Warhammer example coming but I see it as somewhat the same... Watching the Aus Open the commentary talked about Richard Gasquet (long time top 50 Frenchmen in tennis)... apparently if he won a point with a ball he would want to use it for the next point whereas if he lost the point he would immediately throw the losing ball away and ask for another one. Apparently the USA team learned of this quirk and in the Davis cup coached their players to grab his 'winning' tennis balls and pocket or ditch it so that he couldn't reuse his 'lucky' balls and had to instead get a new one. I immediately thought of Warhammer and dice when I saw that. Sorry for the side track.
