That’s going to be a great house! Maybe some kind of spirit/protector/ornament above the door. I personally find it hard with transparent stuff as I seldom paint the inside well. I am trying to find the name of it to be Abel to google but something like above. That ornamentation above the door is called a Corbel. Practical application is to give extra support to ledges or beams, especially those that cantilever out from a wall or support external loads like statuary. More common in older architecture due to advancements in material quality and production methods. Mostly used for ornamentation these days, but still a common addition on prominent buildings. What is the building used for? Is it a prominent official's house or a common meeting hall? Pub? Inn? That would determine whether or not it has ornamentation like that.

I misread the first part about windows and transparency:) I thought it was the part above the door that’s why I added that picture with the corbel ( mottdon 🙏🙏🙏) I would paint the windows in blue color and not be translucent. But that is of course just my personal preference as I don’t want to be Abel to see through to the inside of the house if the inside is unpainted. But if you paint the inside I would use OH paper and Ink it somehow, maybe resin/water effect and inc to make tint in either yellow/brown or blue/green.

Well, that's an idea! You could try firmly attaching a flat surface to the back of the mullions, then mix several small containers with a liquid resin, mixing in the color tint you want, and filling each section with a few drops (using a cheap eye dropper) and letting them dry. I might even do one color at a time, so that if one was to leak, it wouldn't taint the other colors. Might be a worthy idea.
As for the height of the extension, you could leave it at one story and put a parapet wall around with a door leading inside as a simple "guard tower" or just a simple balcony with railing from which the landowner may survey his estate, or the mayor may address his populace. Ideas.

Wow, lots of food for thought here, thanks guys. I don't want to go all out here with see- through windows and painted interior. Good looking from the outside is the end goal. It was good to make me think about what this building is. Volganof is not a rich metropolis to begin with and the area we are modelling, next to the city wall wouldn't even be the best part of town. So fancy corbels, majestic balconies etc. Are out. I like the idea of an inn. It's a big house after all close to a major city gate. I am tending towards a simple roof over the door. While I like the idea of a little balcony because it's a convenient place to put the standard bearer if a unit occupies the building, I am fresh out of neat plastic doors and this is a highly visible area. For the windows I am basically looking for a way to give it a glassy glint without having the painting skills to really pull that off. I played around with a blue film/foil. Hard to make a photo but it's not all bad, just have to make sure I glue it to a white background.

Well. I sank another night into this. Went with a simple roof over the door and built a little entrance to the cellar. Big enough to get some wine barrels down there. Step by step it is taking shape. It? I will need a suggestion for the inn's name. Not Volganof's finest maybe but, a decent stop for weary travelers.

You can never go wrong with a random color and a random animal for the name of an inn. Off the top of my head: The Red Rat The Brown Mare The Green Dragon The White Pony you get the idea...

Looking good mate! I'm also building some scenery (for Mordheim), this thread provides some nice inspiration!
What are you going to use as roofcover? I've used cut out paper shingels on my first try but it took me ages so would be interested in a better/quicker solution.

cheers, guys. Keep the name suggestions coming. We are getting somewhere.
mithras, glad to read this thread is inspirational. For the roof I was planning on cardboard shingles. You can massively speed up the process by cutting strips that span the entire horizontal length of the roof and then making short vertical cuts only partway through the strip. Since you overlay the strips only the shingle part will be visible at the end. The Hirst block house on the first page was done that way (except for the very top row of shingles because I am not that smart). I would recommend bending some of the 'halfway' shingles slightly and cutting off some corners. Helps with warhammer ramshackle-ness. I will try to find cardboard that is a bit thicker than a cereal box for a more convincing slate roof look.
