So I am trying to join chaos-dwarf.com to ask some question and tips when assembling my new army. And maybe enter their competition right now as I am gathering my kdaai anyway.
But the mods seems inactive and their contact mailbox full and twitter dead. And you can't see or contact other members before you are approved. I have been waiting since February so obvious the person in charge is gone missing.
Is anyone here active at the forum too?

Hmm, I'm no longer active but I used to be(still am?) A member there. Hopefully it's all good there, I thought it was a quality forum.

You can’t register on the high elf forum anymore either as the capture thing is an older unsupported version.

Hi, please excuse the registration hassle. First thanks to Horace and gjnoronh to pointing this out! CDO is indeed active for its niche, and will remain so for years to come. Hopefully a solution to the registration problems will be found, but in the meantime I hope there can at least be a stopgap measure put into the messages people receive upon registering: Please contact me at chaosdwarfsonline ( at ) gmail.com, and I'll help set up accounts manually whenever registration fails. It's quick work. I just need to know the username in your E-mail. The above E-mail was just created for Imgur and Google Drive image backup, and I'd have used the proper Staff E-mail address instead, if its password had been retained... Secondly an overview from what little I know, for transparency: I'm an auxilliary mod on CDO, meaning I only help run contests and help people register. I've no access to the old E-mail address (in fact its password seemed long lost when I asked about it for image-recovery purposes) and am not linked up in potential Twitter accounts and suchlike. I was one of three mods that were taken aboard in 2014 to keep some things rolling while the resident Staff was all busy up to their ears with real life. One of these mods have left, and the other, who knows some of the tech stuff, is rather inactive at the moment. And I'm just a contest helper. Some old staff members have returned with more hobby time on their hands, but old fallen reins (such as the Twitter account) have not been picked up by them anew. They don't have as much spare time as they used to do.
You'll see signs of this absence and lagging-behind on the staff level if you check the frontpage galleries and links. There is a dearth of updates, because it is a royal chore that needs to be done manually by a dedicated member who knows the code (I certainly don't!). So while CDO largely keeps running on momentum by itself on old software, largely unhandled by mods except when something crash, much of the facade is left intact as remains from a time when the proper staff had more time on their hands, but this obviously need to be updated as regards contacts, because there is wont to be a lot of dead ends (such as the old staff E-mail).
The registration problems seem to have been ongoing for some years now. Some people can register, others cannot. At random. Our tech-man, Xander, has looked into the issue but found no fault as such with forum software. As of present we believe some newer E-mail spam filters may interfere with confirmation E-mails, but there is no bug inherent in CDO as such. One possible solution could be to update forum software (for free software, importantly), but doing so would collide with the heavily customized software of the site, meaning regular forum software updates cannot be implemented (two signs of this is the lack of spoiler tags and the lack of an edit button when on mobile phone at the site). A lot could be lost, but it is a step that might be worth taking. I'll bring it up in staff again. At the very least I'll ask Xander to change the named staff E-mail to one I use on the side, so that I'd see incoming registration trouble calls.

admiral someone can try and reset the email account if we know the Moderate personal email account it was tied to. If that person or info is lost to the sands of time you may be out of luck. One thing I do is have a shared email account for the 'business' forwarded to my personal account. Someone else also has access to the 'business' account (not really a business but easiest way to explain it.) Money never moves through the 'business' email account. Gary
