I don’t know what it’s like for other countries but watching England play football (or soccer for those over the pond) turns you into a complete nervous wreck every time!

I bunged my neck watching too much world cup.
Historically I'm a Brazil fan but Neymars antics in conjunction with Silva being a little diving schmoe have caused me to rescind my fandom. Roberto Carlos is my favourite soccer player.
Belgium vs Japan was one of the best matches I've ever watched, and no diving compared with Brazil/Mexico was so apparent. I had $ on Japan/Draw as well so lost but what can you do about a comeback like that?
Great weekend of matches coming up. Let's go Uraguay! Get the dirty French out of there!

Lol, I'm always surprised at just how popular football (soccer for us in the US) is for the rest of the world. So much attention is given to sports here in the US, but hardly any of it to Soccer. The top four sports here are American Football, Baseball, Basketball and NASCAR. (Pretty much in that order.) Hockey is a distant 5th. Soccer is something Moms their kids to so that they can burn their energy off. Other than that, everything is niche sports (like equestrian sports, gymnastics, swimming, skiing, etc.)
Lol, I spent a semester, when I was getting my degree in Architecture, studying abroad in Rome. I was so surprised at the amount of attention "football" got there. One night while I was walking back from a late-night studio session, the city erupted with people yelling. That made my heart jump up in my throat! It was then I noticed people running out of a nearby pub cheering and celebrating. That's when I put two and two together and remembered that there was supposed to be a match vs Scotland (I think?). That was back in 2010.

That's when I put two and two together and remembered that there was supposed to be a match vs Scotland (I think?). That was back in 2010. When Mexico beat Germany..... (This world cup) their fans caused an earthquake with their celebrations. www.google.com.au/amp/s/thenewdaily.com.au/sport/football/2018/06/18/world-cup-2018-mexico-artificial-earthquake/amp/Soccer isn't at all big here (Australia) but I played it in school over Aussie rules and have always been a big fan. It's only really the World Cup I get truly excited for. Some of the stories/upsets from this World cup have been truly sensational! The Cavani/Suarez partnership for Uraguay (who just eliminated the supremely overrated Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal team) is reminiscent of Skarsnik and Gobbla with Suarez being Gobbla as he also likes to bite people! I mentioned Neymar before.... . fantastic player but a whiny weakling with the leadership characteristic of a skaven.... The below link basically sums him and his ridiculous diving/rolling....and I'm a Brazil fan and wanted them to win this tournament! https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/8utiar/damn_it_neymar/

England are that semi-elite unit that you've freshly painted and really looking forward to use... who promptly lose several models to a dangerous terrain test, charge a chaff unit, whiff all their attacks, fail their first leadership test, and run off the board while everyone else is getting stuck in.
I'd almost successfully given up caring about them, but then I drew them in my work's sweepstake and they're actually getting somewhere.

Lovely analogy This Sweden game has low scoring draw written all over it. Football really is the main sport in the rest of the world I would say. Maybe second/ third in a few places like Aus and SA but pretty much everywhere else. US really is the exception

It’s one way to guarantee you win the ‘world’ Series 😉. I actually don’t mind baseball, it’s just rounders with a bigger stick. I just don’t get American Football though. Aussie Rules though is a great game. I’m surprised there isn’t a bigger audience for it elsewhere. Oh just finished watching the Sweden Game (sry strutsagget). If you believed the shots of the stands during the game, almost every Swedish supporter was a hot blond chick (or guy dressed up as one). The brits were just beer swilling louts 😀

Lol, well, I suppose we're just being nice to the rest of the world if the Olympics are any indication. If the US we're to pour as much attention into Soccer as other countries....
I mean, we already dominate Women's Soccer, we gotta give you SOMETHING! Lol.
