A blender lord is a vampire lord equipped to his maximum close combat potential, and who will shred most opponents to pieces in CC.

Never faced vampires either. What is a blender lord? 5 attacks at WS7, base strength of 5 is usually upped with a magic weapon/lance to 6 or 7, Always Strikes First (plus initiative 7) from Quickblood so usually re-rolls misses, and then any unsaved wounds from those first lot of attacks get you an additional attack thanks to Red Fury. Other magic items/spells can make it even more deadly. It can comfortably beat most characters, but more normally will remove a solid rank of elite infantry per round of CC. I'll admit to bringing one for most my VC games - it doesn't seem right to have a Vampire Counts army not led by a properly tooled up vampire.

That is why the blender lord is usually tucked into a sacrificial unit.

As such, the advice against blender lords is valid, but not sufficient. You need your own sacrificial units to stall/re-direct the blender lord unit.

Ah I also understand too! I'd be up for a game against VC! Just snipe this alleged blender Lord....simples! The Blender Lord is one of the reasons the Hellheart (that and other expensive wizards) for Ogre Kingdoms was so popular. Any chance to cause damage to the fiend out of combat was generally taken. Of course you can always get lucky with a snipe where no one wants to protect (look out sir) the Vampire. I am fine with them as I feel they live up to the lore and give a glimpse at what a Blood Dragon Vampire at the top of his game could pull off. It's also epic when against all odds they fail spectacularly in combat. They cost a crapload of points so aren't exactly 'unbalanced' in an overall sense...just exceptional at what they are designed to do.

It's also worth bearing in mind that unless you're playing a massive game, the blender lord will often be a level 4 wizard too, because VCs need a level 4 and generally won't have the points for both a blender lord plus Master Necromancer. While Lore of Vampires has mostly low casting values there's still the risk of the 500 point lord miscasting and blowing himself up. It's happened to me before.

Tanky characters with explosive damage are the ideal... they can take his blows, and then slip 1 D3 wounds through...
Ofc not everyone will have access to this, and if you do it luck dependant!

Even then...
In my last game vs VC, his Blender Lord took down my Thorogrim Grudgebearer in one round of CC. Thorogrim was at full strength too. That's brutal considering Thorogrim costs more points.

Terrorgheists hands down, it breaks so many rules. Can shoot while marching, in combat or into combat. No saves, no roll to wound and affects all troops even those that are immune to psychology. As balanced as a drunk freshman, it and the hellcannon are probably the two things i hate most in the game.
As a primarily Dwarf player i don't fear blender lords, on average they can do any wounds to my lord, or i mitigate them by having iron breakers do their jobs.

Terrorgheist for me as well. I like decent big blocks of warriors, trolls & marauders. The characters are inside the units so the only thing I have to deal with them is my hellcannon & single chimera which usually end up playing cat & mouse with the terrorgheist. When facing dual gheists I know it's an uphill battle...
