Is normally what I use, methyl hydrate, denatured, isopropyl, it's all pretty much the same thing, works better higher the alcohol content

Methylated Spirits should be fine, they seem to work quite well on plastics as you can see in that video. Acetone is my stripper of choice for metal minis though. If you really wanted to get them 100% perfect you could strip in acetone first then use methylated spirits to break down anything that is left in any crevices

I use isopropanol for stripping plastic and it is super good. I use bio strip 2 for metal.

What’s the smell like? (I’m just thinking of the stench of my other halves nail polish remover). Edit: you can tell I spend too much time here as the above was autocorrected to: What’s the spell like? 🤦♂️

I use the neat stuff which I "borrow" from work. Pretty sure it's widely available though. It does have a certain odour to it but just tip a little in a jar and put the lid on. You shouldn't be sniffing it anyways

So this is the outcome of my mentholated spirit stripping. The ‘painted’ halfling is an example of what I was dealing with. 30odd year old paint jobs on some of my oldest minis. Two of the halflings had two 5 minute baths in the spirits followed by a not very vigorous scrub with an old toothbrush each time. That shifted most of the paint and as a bonus, there was no residual smell or gloops in the corners that you get with dettol (I’ll never use that again!). As a bonus, you can use the spirits again. If I’d given it another go, or used a stiffer bristle brush, it probably would have shifted more. The blood Bowl mini had the same treatment (so had some paint left in places) and has been just under coated white over the top to see how it turned out. Absolutely fine. Very happy with the procedure and now just have another 30 odd 3rd ed halflings to go!.

Looks good. I give mine proper soaks when I strip them. Weeks before I am going to paint them I lob them in my stripping jar and just leave them to soak until I get around to actually scrubbing them
