I got a chance to play a game with my dwarves vs. nurgle daemons. I’m not able to do a full or proper battle report but here are some pictures and highlights. My army list was 22 great weapon warriors with full command, another 22 great weapon warriors with full command, 22 hammerers with full command and master rune of groth one eye (stubborn to units within 12”), 23 slayers, cannon, organ gun, 10 irondrakes, 10 thunderers, gyrocopter, ungrim incarnate of fire, thane bsb and runesmith. I built the list around master rune of groth one eye with a multiple small unit style as the 20’ish man warrior units could now hold up in a few round of combat being stubborn. I took ungrim for something different and characterful. The daemon list was more or less 25 plaugebearers, another 25 plaugebearers, 8 beasts of nurgle, 2 nurglings, great unclean one, nurgle daemon prince, herald of nurgle bsb.

We both deployed on the same flank of the table. Terrain was pretty dense so to keep some line of sight for my shooting I dropped on this side as there was a bit less terrain coverage. Don’t have turn by turn pics but high level overview as follows. Daemons went first and did a full advance. He got a small purple sun off in magic and killed about half the slayer unit. Dwarf 1 saw minor movement only. Magic dispelled purple sun. Shooting got 1 wound onto great unclean one with cannon and a few wounds onto a plaugebearer block with the other shooty bits. Daemon turn 2 general advance to set up charges for next turn. Dwarves 2. Slayers advance to be the first unit to take a charge. Most everything shoots at the plaugebearer unit closest to the center of the table (the one in front of the irondrakes and thunderers). Goes well. Gets this unit down under 15.

Daemon 3. Most everything into combat. Center plaugebearer block into thunderers. Beasts into warriors. Daemon prince into hammerers. Great unclean one into slayers. Great unclean one challenges. Ungrim steps right up and starts swinging like the mad dwarf he is. Between strength 7, daemon slayer and dragon slayer rule (enemy rerolls successful ward saves and ungrim does d3 wounds to large targets) he took the great unclean one out in the first round of combat. This was the highlight of the game for me as it is spot on fluff wise for how deadly a slayer lord like ungrim is. Thunderers lose combat and run and plaugberers pursue and catch them. Warriors and hammerers take wounds but hold on stubborn. Dwarf turn 3 slayers and free warrior unit charge plaugebearers. All shooting into smaller plauge bearer block which took thunderers out and took them right off the table. By end of 4 hammerers and warriors fighting beasts were gone but the bsb and runesmith stuck around another combat. The next turn the bsb and runesmith were done for. The warriors and slayers which charged the plaugebeaers eventually took that unit out.

Daemon 5 beasts charge warriors. Dwarf 5 shooting goes into daemon prince and takes him out. Beasts finish off warriors and get into slayers. Slayer unit dies but Ungrim fights beasts for 2 round and that is end of of turn 6. Heavy losses on both sides. Daemons only have beast unit and nurglings alive. Dwarves have ungrim, irondrakes, gyro, both warmachines. Minor win for dwarves. Was great fun.

I love Ungrim and that was quality to see him mince the greater daemon! Quality.
