Like many of my friends on this forum I am trying to collect lots of the 8th edition hardcovers now that they will never be updated and I can literally use them FOREVER. So far I have:
Empire Orcs and Goblins Tomb Kings Vampire Counts Ogre Kingdoms Warriors of Chaos
I have no interest in any ELF books but I would like to have:
Beasts (not sure which is the most recent as they are ALL softcover) Daemons Dwarves
Can someone tell me why the hell the dwarf book is so expensive online? I'm talking like $100 in a few places.

Rich,
Beastmen is the a 7th edition softcover, never updated for 8th (though the Glotkin gave them Marks of Chaos upgrades). Skaven and Beastmen were the last two 7th edition books and never had an 8th edition update.
No idea why the Dwarf book would cost so much...

Wow. Looks like a lot of these 8th edition books are not cheap to find.
Sorta surprising

Yeah, I thought that a lot of the stuff would become cheaper but some most stuff just became rare and more expensive. It's fun to bargain hunt though

Rich if you can wait that long I am sure some of the 9th Ed players at Da Boyz would give theirs up. Also Taydan on Twitter is in buffalo and I think would be more happen happy to get rid of all of his GW stuff.

Books sold on their own are often more expensive than books sold along with models. Check for small armies that include the army book.
Luckily I bought all the books as they were released so my 8th Edition is already complete.

I have Vampire Counts on its way by postage at the moment Id been looking for a decent priced one on ebay for ages. The VC 8th Edition book is my final 'must have' 8th edition hardback so im happy. I really like the 8th edition hardbacks overall.

I think patience is key. Eventually you will track down the books. I wouldn't pay more than $20 each. I got lucky because a very generous guy just handed me 4-5 books a little while ago. Now I am only missing the two undead ones but I'll find them eventually.
Also, I agree with Anton, you'll often find armies on ebay with the book just thrown in. In fact, maybe we can get a bit of an exchange going on this forum. I'll be sure to offer any spares I end up with on here first.

I am trying to do the same but I am interested in all of them. So far I have dwarves, lizardmen, skaven, high elves, ogres, warriors of chaos and empire. So I am about half way. As mentioned above $20 max per each has been my max price point for right now.

Yup and confusing :-) Is going to be the next army I'm going to fool around with and all the special rules are confusing me. If you have a blond general you can use blabla, if he has the vow of chastity the next three units can blabla. I'll get there in the end...

I thought about getting Bretonnian but decided to use the EEFL list as the final book.

Yep, and the 6th Edition book as well. It was left un-updated for over ten years before GW blew up the universe. Most other armies were updated TWICE in that time. (Why yes, I'm a mildly bitter Bretonnian player, why do you ask?)
