Hi everyone on the EEFL
I havnt played WFB in over 10 yrs and mostly play 2nd edition 40K / 30k only lol.
However stumbling across this forum which is amazing btw and in my area there have been a few people getting back into 8thed.
I have majority of the models, I would appreciate thoughts and opinions on the below list. Not really looking to change anything up ( we are more beer and pretzels kinda players ) but I don’t want to put the army on the field and have to just take it right back off 😂.
Not having a BSB will that really hurt ?

I've never play "Tree" woody elves, but I have some advices.
Single eagle is much better than unit of some of them. So take two units of 1 eagle and you'll be happy. And yes, without BSB you'll suffer, sadly.
What's about some combination of trees and some elf-thing (While maintaining the overall "tree" theme)?

I could plop him in the big unit of dryads ? Also I’m unsure what to equip him with. I’m guessing he’ll need to be a beatstick ?

My thoughts So you will need to run the ancient near your dryads so they don’t run off(when they loose combat on combat res) and benefit from his ld 10 bobble. That’s your center. Tree kin can actually hold the flanks well. Eagles redirects any unit/horde of great weapon/poison that will slaughter trees. Treeman the beat stick that will combo charge with dryads. Lore of life dwellers against any horde armies, especially if your opponent run his mage in his hordes. Regarding captain, you might not need him as ancient has ld 10 and you are immune but rerolls are always good especially when dryads loose combat, and they will . For combat captain: great weapon and armor. Either the 2+(armor of silver steel) or the heavy armor with 4++(armor of destiny). And don’t forget your 6++ and immune to psychology(tree spirits). As the banner dies when dryads flee from combat I would actually like to run him a bit safer hidden behind on a great steed. For T4 3w upgrade. Spear, enchanted shield, talisman of protection. He is also a beat stick that can combo charge.

strutsagget has covered it pretty comprehensively. Do your opponents rock up with the same attitude as you with their lists?

It looks like a fun list. Personally, I'd drop the BSB as it feels like it ruins the theme, and you're not playing in a competitive environment.
I would also be tempted to include Drycha - not because she's good (she isn't) but because she fits thematically in the list, and it lets you have some fun awakening units around the place. You also get Shadow magic, whose hexes would be a big help.
Durthu is tempting too - he'd be the only really nasty combat unit in your army, but would necessitate sacrificing your Level 4 Treeman Ancient.
If you really wanted to play up the theme, and are very relaxed about models used, I'd suggest taking a look at the Storm of Magic book for some "fluffy" extras - Deepwood Unicorns, Royal Unicorns, Great Stags, Forest Dragons, Fenbeasts, or even Zoats. All could fit in a forest-themed list, and (Fenbeasts/Zoats aside) offer some more speed to your list.

Have fun! I would play it pretty semi aggressive. As there is no defensive units except the mage. Try setting up combo charges. Remember you want both treemen in combat for protection against shooting but not against anything with s6 and above or poison. Like Lizzies great weapon kroxigors Eagles can help hunting war machines like empire cannons. Don’t be afraid from 6 dicing dwellers, it might be the strongest spell in the game running plain 8ed. You will need it. Also fit the theme with ground coming alive pulling the enemy down. Remember to heel your bsb and treemen with the signature. Be gamy with the eagles, they are there to die and lure the enemy away in the wrong direction(setting up the base so overrun messes with your opponent). Lure frenzy units. Or at least hold stuff up a turn.

Also had the fortune of having 2 great Warhammer friends living next door for the last 6 year’s. We play(drink beer) when the kids fall asleep but it’s been dry this Covid. Let me know how it goes.
