Thanks for the comments Mark Dienekes and Naitsabes. Armies 1 and 2 (and 4+) will hopefully be making an appearance here in due course). Some photos of the whole army back on the shelf (minus the Drogres and marauders from the event army which were borrowed from a different force). Can't find my grass mat to do posed pics at the moment, apologies. Lord on steed (painted the other week for the event), lord on jugger (2015) and 6 Skullcrushers (painted just after they came out xmas 2012). BSB on foot (painted the other week, i've had a full set of the Khorne half of the 1st AoS starter set in the stash since it came out). Playing AoS was not option. Lord on foot, 20 AHW warriors and 30 Bloodreavers (AHW marauders which is not a legal option in 8th but i'm also painting with scenario games, 9th age and Kings of War in mind - whatever rank and flank game I can get a game of basically). Painted these over the last couple of years. 10 Knights (painted in 2005/2006 as special choices in my BoC army, the brighter red scheme was a different paint recipe) and 2 chariots (painted last year) 3 x 5 warhounds (5 painted 2013, 2 in 2015 and the rest last year). Old flesh hound models, I do use them as that for my Daemons. Remaining characters. Valkia (2015), mounted BSB (2013), Khorgorath (just painted the other week as a messenger in a scenario at the event - in future can be a groundpounding free dameon prince if I get one from Eye of the Gods), mounted hero (2015). My winged deamon prince (1999) is lurking at the back, he needs repairs and probably rebasing.

Great looking army! How did you do at the North remembers? (I know you didn’t win as Mr Lammin took the crown 😁). How did you find playing 5 games at 3k rather than 2.5k?

Thanks for the comments on the army chaps. I was very surprised (gobsmacked tbh) to finish 2nd overall at the event. I don’t usually trouble the scorers at the top end of tourneys, mid table mediocrity is more my level. I got 64/100 for battle, so my +7 comp score clearly helped me climb a few places. I was lucky to play 3 games against armies with similar comp scores and win all 3. Played one filth (-6) lizard list run by a very good player which beat me up. Was also lucky the TO gave me 10 points for g4 which I had to miss due to car trouble instead of defaulting me. As far as the 3k goes, that was one of the attractions of this event for me, I always want more toys on the table. One of the reasons I took this army was to skip the shooting and magic phases to get through games but we still didn’t get through all 6 turns in several games. I’d prefer 3 hr rounds for 3k. This army did require it’s own special “count out the attack dice” sub-phase which might have contributed to that.
Btw Knoffles I always enjoy your blog! Been a lurker-follower for a few years.

Congrats on the placement. That's really impressive. Some of the guys you are playing have been tournament players for years. The blog has gone a bit quite recently, mainly down to work. I've had a fair few games with bucketloads of photos, just sitting on my PC as i've just not had the time to write up any reports!

I'll look forward to those reports Knoffles!
Re the tournament placing, I did have loads of tournament experience in 6th and 7th and some during the life of 8th (with a few local one dayers since the End Times) but yeah as I said even then I didn't tend to grace the podium.

WIP. 10 Khorne marauders with great weapons virtually done - just need some grass on the bases. Got these done to this point a couple of weeks ago. I'm intending to add these to the front of 10 of my existing bloodreavers to be able to run a 20 man GW unit. They were followed onto the workbench by 6 Khorne Ogres with great weapons. These are the Txarli Factory Northern Ogre Thugs (Ironguts from their proxy Ogre army range). Was tempted by these sculpts as soon as I saw them. Got mine from Soulforged Miniatures on ebay which seems to be the best price on there. And WIP as of last night. The red isn't quite so orange IRL.
