I just pre-ordered the set. The description does state both round and square bases are provided for each model. I would not have bought this set otherwise.
I'm curious to know, is GW just trying to get rid of square bases, or is it intentional for people like us??

I just pre-ordered the set. $80 for like 75 dudes. Legit. I have no idea WHY GW is doing this... I am just going to enjoy the ride.

Yep, Holiday money and good deals tend to do that to products. (Also, apparently someone goofed and put the pre-orders a week early..) Anyway GW announced they're bringing out another round for the people who missed out.

Kevin and/or Will let me know if you want to part with the Skaven stuff (mainly the clanrats).

Kevin and/or Will let me know if you want to part with the Skaven stuff (mainly the clanrats). Yes. I will. Perfect! I was doing this for the Elf models.

Meh. These are the same old arguments that have taken place since GW abandoned Warhammer Fantasy. I think that this is just another attempt by GW to get rid of stock that they took off the shelves when they needed to push AoS.
And as far as AoS having more subscribers, it's still incredibly close to a game that they proclaim is "dead".

Of course, had GW spent more time writing good rules WFB might not have declined in the first place...

Spire of Dawn is still on sale. Now I don't collect Skaven or High Elves, but I still have a hard time justifying NOT to buy it, or even two boxes. There are some great Warhammer minis in there and better price/mini rates are hard to find. Apologies for reviving an old thread, but: should I? I could save it for my retirement?

I bought it back when it was still the Island of Blood. Not an ounce of regret and now it's better priced and comes with both rounds and square bases. The only possible reason not to get it would be because you're allergic to elf and Skaven models.

I could save it for my retirement? Exactly. There may well come a time when you want a high elf or skaven army but by then the minis may be way to hard to come by!

So I got an original IoB when buying some ebay wood elves. How close do I get with a good High elves army with two IoB (spire of dawn)? Allready have two bolt throwers. Never played high elves so dont know if the units in are good ones

Archers are always good. Personally I do not use spearmen but many people use them and magic them up. ASF in four ranks and mindrazor will kill absolutely everything!
