Hi all,
After having played WFB in the early 2000's, I wanted to get into the hobby again to start a Wood Elf army. Upon discovering that GW had replaced WFB by AOS, I initially started preparing a living cities army but when I heard about the plans for TOW I immedeatly decided to prepare for this instead. My army is still expanding but I have around ~1200 points at the moment, and will be posting pictures in the coming weeks / months to come. Everything is still on temporary round bases, but I will start rebasing soon to TOW bases. So far I have also not decorated any of the bases, hope to do that soon as well.
Concept: The idea behind the army are wood elves that reside on the tundra rather than in the forest, migrating to the northern tundra in spring. They can wear their "summer" outfits and travel together with typical tundra animals. I try to incoorparate as many of these animals as possible into the army, taking inspiration from my work as a biologist working on the Arctic tundra.
Lore: The army originates from Laurelorn, where the Eonir (Wood Elves) reside. Upon encountering increasing invasions of Norse and Beastmen herds from the North, a patrol army has been send out to scout the northern tundra for incoming enemies. This patrol has departed together with the spring migration of animals wintering in Laurelorn, including Reindeer, Arctic Foxes, Wolves and many migratory birds, including Merlins (falcons), Snowy Owls, Ravens and more. Some elves become so accustomed to the life on the tundra that they no longer leave with the animals in autumn, but stay during winter together with some local hardened animals.
First post are some of the characters and a small unit of waywatchers.
A glade lord / captain with his 'pet' Skua. Skuas are predatory gulls (e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomarine_jaeger) that hunt for lemmings and small birds. I am not so sure yet what I should use the Skuas for my army list, perhaps they can serve as markers or something. The glade lord is based on the alaroth model, the skuas are aetherwings from stormcast eternals (AOS)
My spellweaver / spellsinger together with a Snow Bunting. The model is 3d printed from Holo miniatures (high elf mage)
A Waystalker together with a Grey Plover. The model is converted from an Namarti reaver (AOS idoneth deepkin) and bits from alaroth / sylvaneth / shadow warriors / eternal guard.
And their backs.
Below the last for now, a small unit of waywatchers. Those are 3d-printed models from holo miniatures (pathfinders + 1 pathfinder lord). They are placed a bit awkwardly on their bases, but this is just temporary, will rebase them soon.
Hope you like them. Stay tuned for more!

Looking great so far! One of the most thematic ways to collect and play Wood Elves is to theme them around one of the seasons, and a Winter-themed force is an excellent way to try out a really different palette to one you'd expect for Wood Elves - cool blues, whites, greys, even purples. Love the inclusion of the winter animals as well, even if they serve just as objective markers. Conjuring up a thematic backstory for your army and setting out to make it a reality in model form is one of the things I really like most about wargaming, and particularly fantasy and sci-fi games like Warhammer. Also I'm pleased to hear you're making the transition from the hectic, release-chasing, tournament-oriented, objective-focused world of AoS toward the more laid-back, tactically-rewarding and sophisticated game that is fast becoming TOW. The rules look really good and satisfy a lot of itches that 8th Edition failed to scratch in my personal view, and I'm looking forward to greeting the new generation of Warhammer Fantasy players and fans that it nourishes. Keep up the good work!

Apologies for those not-working pics. I hope that it is now fixed. A glade lord / captain with his 'pet' Skua. I'm currently busy rebasing, but here's some of the other units (on the temporary round bases). First a unit of glade guards with magic arrows. They are a pretty standard conversion: sisters of avelorn mini's with glade guard heads, with the champion using a bow of the lumineth sentinels.
Below one of the units that I specifically took to play AOS with living city: Wood elf wild riders on Sabre's. Their background would be wild rider champions who found a new steed on the tundra, after which they become so 'wild' that they no longer make the return migration in autumn to Laurelorn, but rather stay on the tundra in winter to hunt. For TOW I might use them as Demigryph knights allies. The models are based on dracolines from the stormcast eternals range, with the riders being converted using wild rider parts, including also glade rider and dark rider bits.
My actual wild riders will not be riding (rein)deers, but I chose for Arctic foxes instead. This is just a first single rider, the rest still needs to be painted. My glade riders then use the reindeers. The original glade rider legs unfortunately do not find on the steeds. Also I was not happy with the original antlers, so I tried to make them more natural.
Hope you like them!

Lovely dracoline conversions, way better than the stormcast versions.
Magic arrow Glade guard are cool.

Lots of unique minis in here with your mix of kit bashing and 3d printing.
