It isn't looking good for this event. I have e-mailed several times, the first being a week ago now with some follow ups in between and haven't heard a word. The last week has been crazy in Rochester however (for those that aren't local there were 81 mph winds that knocked out power to over 100,000 people for several days followed by plus or minus 2 feet of snow all in under a week). So I will send one more e-mail to see. Without hearing back from the organizers it is impossible to do this event at their venue. We have no idea if they have space, tables, chairs, etc. and it wouldn't work just to show up. So stay tuned for a bit more but if I don't hear anything in the next couple of days I would say it is not happening. I talked with Boldo AKA Alex White, he talked with the president that is in charge of SIMCON. Apparently they never received word from anyone that you wanted to run an 8th edition warhammer event. The SIMCON president said he would be happy to have tables for us. Sooooooo........? Maybe I ended up in junk mail or something, I don't know. I tried multiple e-mail addresses however so that seems unlikely. |

I just sent another e-mail based on all of the above to the SIMCON committee chair who is listed on their website. I'll let you know if I hear anything this time.

I need to go to Boldo's sometime soon... his treasure trove of 4th/5th/6th edition minis is unrivaled.

I just got a response back that due to the short notice that SIMCON will not be able to accommodate us as they don't have the available space/tables. So no event will happen on Saturday. There's some irony in this. You contacted them several weeks ago for a spot. Also, Warhammer was a foundation event for Simcon for a long time. Sad times indeed.

It kills me to see just how many people are all too ready to cave in to a money grab move like AoS. If more people would simply stick to what they have, GW would capitulate. Market demand has a lot more power than people realize.

This sucks, they asked Boldo if he was going to run a miniatures event at SIMCON and he told them no that the EEFL guys were going to. Darn it.....

All we even needed was 3-4 tables and some chairs in a huge hall that I know they don't have filled up. I didn't even want an event...just some f'ing space to set up our own battles.
And we would have paid for badges just to sit in their room. Someone sucks at their job.

That looks like a lot of fun! I'll have to convince my wife that the time off and airfare would be worth it. I'd be all for a mega-battle like that. I stopped working on these guys shortly after I started this painting log, but I'm thinking about either picking up where I left of with WoC or growing the painted models of some of my other armies (Beastmen are my priority right now).
