That's a great effort.

Thanks! Jesus, your attitude to painting slaves is as ritualistically elaborate as mine towards the Republican Guards LOL all it is is some drybrushing and inking. Simple by my standards Oh man props I cannot bring myself to start that epic grind of getting my slaves painted up. You can do it! Do a large enough batch that you can do a single "step" in about an hour to an hour and a half then just do a single step or two per day. The trick is to keep the palette small, I use...6 colors and 3 inks for the entire model; and I don't even use metallics! I opted to start with the slaves/clanrats (let's be honest, they're the same thing as I'm using mostly IoB minis) so that I could get them out of the way.

Quick Update:
I've got the Warp Lightning Cannon almost finished. All that remains is to finish small details on the crew (eyes, talons, etc), get the crew glued to the machine and then seal and pigment wash the entire model. I anticipate most of this being done tonight, depending on wait times. Pictures tomorrow!
I've also decided at the end of my posts to start including a [painted] model count for my 2000 point army. This will help me to see the progress that I'm making and allow me to hopefully see the light at the end of the tunnel!
As of 6/1/17: 60/219 models painted
EDIT: Also as of right now I'm short a Warp Lightning Cannon and a Hellpit Abomination for the army. If anyone out there has one they're willing to trade for let me know!

Alright update with pictures time!! Warp lightning cannon is mostly done I managed to seal it last night; all that's left is to apply a rust wash to the model. I also managed to prime the next 20 slaves and get my black ink wash on the models. Also I did this on Sunday: cleaned up 40 slaves (on the right) and got out 50 stormvermin (left), of which I cleaned up 10 (middle). Army Progress as of 6/2/17: 60.9/219

Rust wash applied! The Warp lightning cannon is done! I also managed to clean up another 15 stormvermin in anticipation of getting their bases textured. I've block painted the first color on the next 20 slaves. All that remains is: Block paint second color Drybrush shields/spearshafts/faces/hands/tails with a lighter brown drybrush weapons/armor with NMM brown/yellow (vallejo light brown, it's got a lot of yellow in it but I like it) brown ink block painted colors (clothing) eyes/teeth/talons detail work seal rust wash Simple... Army progress: 61/219

Yes it's pretty amazing stuff. mottdon other companies label it as "thinner medium". It's basically like water, used for thinning paints, inks, etc... The difference though is that it's better. It flows better than water and I've especially noticed that the surface tension is lower. When I create a pigment wash using water it wants to bead up on the surface of a varnished model. But after adding a drop or two of medium (or if I use just medium) then it flows nicely over the model like a wash should. I've also created my own inks and glazes using a small amount of paint to some medium. It's great stuff.

So you use it for wet-blending?

That's certainly one of its many applications yes. Although if I were to do that I would also add some retarder so it doesn't dry so fast.

I have found when you thin your paints you retain much much better coverage with the medium than with water which tends to be a little blotchy

Just chime in, Lamian medium is the most useful pot in Citadel history, imho.

I'd highly recommend it. It's a very handy tool to have around for thinning paints. I bought it because I was having an issue where when I thinned my inks with water and it would dry it would sometimes leave a white ghostly-type residue in the crevices where I applied the ink. I suspect this was partly due to using tap water and not distilled water (chemicals/minerals in the water and all that). Once I started diluting my inks with medium I no longer had this problem.
It just occurred to me that I have a couple of recent skaven that show the difference between using just water for a wash and using water + a couple drops of medium, and also using just medium as a wash. I'll take pictures and post them up here when I can so you can see the difference!
Also...I've finished the next 20 skaven slaves! Tonight I just have to seal them and tomorrow I'll be able to apply the final rust wash.
