Just a fun quiz I actually enjoy trying to guess what topic of question or rule Strutsagget is going to come up with next, I've yet to be correct - but one day I'll get it right. Greg p.s. Just kidding around.

You know I read these posts right But English is not my first language and I do find the rules somewhat confusing a lot This forum would be somewhat empty without my spamming!

Mate, seriously I'm lovin' it. It's actually refreshing to revisit questions you'd not considered for a while. I'm guilty of not reading all the FAQ information but then again I don't think GW updated them all before shutting the door.

I think we can all use a refresher course I think its one of the reasons we continue to play, we don't know everything and if your still finding things out it continues to be exciting. Greg

I think the challenge is to find a question that Fidelis doesn't know the answer to. Seriously I think he must have an eidetic memory (either that or I'll just say a thanks for the amount of time he spends looking up rules!).

Fidelis: delivers both (1) strong & quick working knowledge, and (2) succinctly matter-of-fact.
Me... I am someone who'd rather just make up a rule for whatever odd in-game scenario that happens. Like a flavorful ruling of what we think might happen in real life, actual RAW be damned.
That said - I very much appreciate his accuracy and correctness. I find it a sobering counterpoint to my kooky ideas.

Thank you for the accolade. Rules are there to ensure a level playing field. While a general understanding of and adherence to the basic rules will facilitate that, there is nothing wrong with making up rules with mutual agreement in friendly games, and/or according to the scenario.

I'd agree that people play it a certain way, kinda funny about the stand and shoot rules, can't think of the other user name but he was against your way of playing, then for it but in local games (where he plays Dwarves with that special character) he's against it. Do I consider it cheatinging or just the way we've always played it? LOL

As I have pointed out before, the way one "has always played it" does not mean it is according to the 8th edition rules. You have a 50% chance (or more) that it means the opposite. Again, that is perfectly fine, as long as both players agree, and as long as there is a level playing field (i.e. both players are aware of the implications). The more players are involved, the less likely that will be the case (unless it is a close circle of players).

Yup. I played a lot of 4th, a lot of 5th, and a lot of 6th edition. Sometimes, the 3 or 4 different editional rules for one aspect get all scrambled.

A common occurrence. I would guess that one of the most frequent left-overs (in casu from the 6th edition) is to have a General with a lower Leadership than another character. Once the various ABs had been updated to 7th edition (starting from 2006), that was not possible anymore (and still is not), but not everyone seems to have noticed.
