Look I know this is an 8th ed forum where the hate of AoS is strong. But I am personally quite excited for the new edition of AoS which launches at the end of this month. They have intentionally pulled in quite a few of 8th ed type rules mechanics and flavor into this new edition: -A core rule book containing 84 universal magic items -Lores of magic (based on the winds of magic/realms) that it looks like all armies will have access to (to varying degrees) -"Big 6" spells like Purple Sun, Penumbral Pendulum, Burning head etc. Doesn't make it 8th but clearly they wanted to pull more of that 8th mechanics/flavor forward into AoS. www.warhammer-community.com/2018/06/05/soul-wars-announced/The launch boxed sets looks to have a ton of very cool things.

I HATE AOS!!!! Lol, just kidding. No, actually this set looks pretty good! I'm REALLY liking the Spell Set as well as the Objective Markers! I know that I've been an 8th purest all these years, but even I have to admit that this is tempting. I've been considering getting into AoS via Shadespyre for some quick, skirmish games, but this might need to be the way I go. Box edition sets are always a good deal as well. I just hope I can save up enough cash. I'm sure all of that will cost an arm and a leg.

I can highly recommend Shadespyre for a quick tactically satisfying low time/cash/painting investment game. I got to figure $150 or so US

I must say the new box/art is way better than before. I prefer the gloomier dark covers to the white ish ones they were doing before.

It definitely looks like they learnt from what I always thought of as a total hash of the first edition. I love the changes to shooting they’ve finally bought in, it was one of the rules that always really put me off the game. I also like that more of the Stormcast models are coming without helmets too. I much prefer them bareheaded.

I love the look of second ed, especially with the new starter set. It really looks amazing.
