Prince with wings, armor, Khorne, flaming breath, scaled skin, the shield that ignores the first hit in 2+.
24 Khorne warriors with sword and board, standard and musician
24 Khorne warriors with halberd and shield, standard and musician
Khorne gorebeast chariot
Chimera with flaming breath and regen
5 Khorne knights with standard and musician
3 skullcrushers with standard and musician
Khorne Giant
Total 2398 points
My opponent is a guy I’ve never met but I know he’s bringing dark elves.
Note that I have NO MAGIC at all. I had hoped to get a collar on my prince but couldn’t find the 45 points. If you’re wondering why the warrior units are so large, they are in multiples of 8...my only other option was 16 and that felt too small without characters.
Also, it doesn’t really matter to me if things like the giant aren’t super-competitive.
Thoughts?

Frenzied warriors can't parry. So those shields are a bit meh. I suppose you are taking the high road and using what models you have and I approve.
I would try real hard to fit in a BSB. The daemon prince can't be everywhere and frenzy tests on Ld8 is asking for trouble.
No chaff at all? That would be the other way to prevent your frenzied units to end up tied in a knot at uncomfortable angles.

Right on about the shield warriors. It’s how they’re assembled so that’s how they go into battle. I considered a unit of 8 hounds. 8 forsaken got to be very expensive.

If I would do a themed khorne army, I would include at least one war shrine of khorne. Its fluffy because it is not really magic but a prayer and it gives you something to do with your magic dice. So you can participate in at least 3 of the 4 phases in WFB.

Maybe replace the demon prince with a chaos lord, buy a war shrine from the spared points, roll every round on the eye of the gods table and hope one of your unit champions turns into a demon prince?

Would you recommend taking out the giant and adding a Warshrine and champions back into all of my units?

I’d try and fit in some hounds myself. Mainly because I consider them an iconic khorne unit (I’m not sure how good they actually are). I seem to remember they ambush which brings something a bit different to the list.

Would you recommend taking out the giant and adding a Warshrine and champions back into all of my units? I think the giant is fun to play. I would replace the gore beast chariot with the war shrine, which is there to support your units I guess? The war shrine could do the same (albeit not as effective) but lets you also participate in the magic phase. You would definitely need unit champions to profit from the shrine and, as I said, maybe replace the the demon prince with a chaos lord. This way you could try to buff your lord every round and maybe get a free demon prince from one of your unit champions. The points spared could be used to buy one or two units of chaos dogs to screen your units and harass the enemy.

I played this game yesterday. Based on recommendations here I swapped the giant for a shrine, 2 small units of hounds, and a champion for my knights. His Dark Elf army had a unit of black guard, executioners, 5 cold one knights, several units of xbows and dark riders, a chariot,a witch BSB with obsidian blade, a level 4 caster on Pegasus, and a unit of warlocks. His army-wide ASF and the fact that many elves can be S4 nullified most of the advantages of being a chaos warrior army. The game was fun and my demon prince was my only model standing at the end. My skullcrushers got off a long charge against his backfield xbows in turn 2 and there wasn’t much that could kill them over there. My opponent did a great job hexing my units in combat and my lack of magic made it difficult to stop his spells. Another reflection was that my opponent drove over an hour to meet me at a game store. It’s been several years since I played Warhammer in a shop and I enjoyed the experience. We got lots of curious looks from gamers who probably thought “nobody plays these games anymore”. There was a magic card event happening next to us and I feel like our table and game were a nice addition to the vibe of the store. Now I’m going to put my warriors on the shelf and focus on my Empire army. Games coming up on 6/23-24.

Thats a cool war shrine conversion. Did it do something useful?

Thats a cool war shrine conversion. Did it do something useful? Thanks and no. It got off its thing twice before getting smashed by S5 and S6 elves.

Thats a pitty. I guess darkelves are brutal zo play against, especially if you have no way to kill them by magic or shooting.
