Gents,
I’m due to play a game tonight where I know my opponent will have a hag bsb mounted on a Cauldron.
The DE AB states the Cauldron must always be placed in the centre of the front rank of the unit.
So my question is, if I charged the flank of the unit it was in, am I correct in thinking it cannot make way as it has to stay in the centre of the unit and also that the hag cannot make way as it is effectively her mount (so she has to stay on it).
I’m just trying to think of effective ways to defeat the witchelf block with my Beasts.
If the above is correct then my horde of Gor will be trying to charge the flank of them if I get the opportunity (it may not be the most sensible but I fancy at least attempting to beat them in combat and let’s be honest, they aren’t going into the front!).

Yes, you are correct. Note that the description of the Cauldron also states that "it is not otherwise treated as a character - it can only join and leave units like one."

My pleasure. I should add, though, that the Hag on Cauldron can excute a Make Way move, but a very limited one: for example, from XXCXXX to XXXCXX.

True, but it can have its uses. For instance, it could prevent or hamper an enemy character from attacking your weaker rank & file.
