I've got a game against Westy's Skaven again on Sunday, and after the debacle of our last battle, I'm in need of vengeance. Him being a gentleman, I'm sure he won't read past this point to peek at my army list...
We're playing the Raze and Ruin scenario from p.398-9 of the BRB. Essentially I only get 1500 points to his 2000, but have a small town (including a watchtower and barricades) to defend, while all his units start off the table. You have to control buildings to win the game, and they can also be blown up.
I want to use my Slayers in this game, because they're freshly painted - that includes a Slayer character, regardless of how sub-optimal they are and that there's unlikely to be anything big enough for him to be truly tested against.
This is the list I've come up with:
That's an awful lot of ranged units - I might be a bit light in combat. I was considering having 30 Thunderers with shields and putting them in the watchtower to give them a good field of fire. I'm lacking any magical defence and, yet again a BSB. I'm expecting the Gyrocopter to be Storm Bannered for a little while, but its speed could be vital for contesting a building. If things get desperate, the Cannon (or Slayers) can blow up a building I've no chance of contesting...
Other units I've got available are: 20 Longbeards HW+shield, 20 Ironbreakers, 20 Hammerers, assorted characters, Gyrobomber, Bolt Thrower, Organ Gun.
I'm expecting to face a Doomwheel (he'll want fast units to close quickly) and Westy has freshly painted a Warp Lightning Cannon - though I'm not sure he'll bring it given it has to start off the battlefield so misses a turn of shooting. There will almost certainly be a massive block of Clanrats, and units of Stormvermin and Plague Monks.
