G'day blokes!
Has anyone ever thought of or tried podcasting? I'm listening to a Lord of the Rings cast now and its brilliant! I think the same set up could be used to make a good Fantasy one. basically they go through the lore and talk about it. Some of us could make a podcast, go through lexicanum and discuss the massive amounts of lore from there, segments about tactics and campaigns, that kind of stuff. would that interest anyone else?

I’d love to but if I spend any more time related to the hobby on top of what I do, I’m pretty sure my wife would remove my nuts with a spoon. Apart from the humourous element, there was a reason why she came down the isle to the Emperors March from Starwars. (She is not as forgiving as I am).

I think the biggest time sink related to podcasting (other than recording time) is the editing.
Maybe we have someone here skilled in that area.
This is the golden age of podcasting, so I think there's always room for something different.
But the problem is finding a new slant. The fluff/lore discussion has been driven into the ground by the garagehammer guy (imho).
A lot of 8th edition pods we're successful with army book reviews, tactics discussions, hobby/painting updates, and the big one... tournament coverage.
Tournament coverage was huge. It really created a sense of community even if you weren't there. Obviously 8th edition tournaments and army book reviews aren't the freshest option in 2018.
Do you have a dedicated group of local gamers that can help you? I could see a pod centered around campaign discussion and hobby projects working.
Tactics have really been done to death due to the explosion in podcasts during the hey day of 8th.
I think an oldhammer pod focused on 3rd or 4th could really work. Maybe even hunting down ex gw game designers for interviews.
But I'm not that creative. There has to be something new that can work.

I suppose the other side to this argument is the army book reviews were done but mainly when they first came out. It was rare to see reviews done after a few years, retrospectively looking at them. I think there is definitely a space for talking about and comparing all the different editions and the evolution of the game. I suppose the main thing, is even if old ground is covered, at least the podcast would be new and fresh and keeping it alive.

I think it's a great idea - simply to continue the conversation. However, my personal goal/plan/idea was to actually make it video-based on YouTube. I'm currently looking for people to play with in NYC and film some battle reports, to go along a weekly podcast-life show that could also feature video/images of new paintings and discussion on AOS' new models and how/if they can be used for Warhammer, and the like.

I'm just not sure you'd generate much interest (if that's the goal).

Good idea, especially if there is an audio option

It's not worth it. It's such a waste of tiiiiimmmeeeeeee editing honestlytrustme! With that out of the way... A full lore-based or community/gameplay eight edition podcast would for sure be something to listen to. -returns to painting dark elve.....what's that squeaking noise? no...NOOOOOOOOOOOO- *This message was sponsored by the edition-fluid and mordheim dabbling Old World Lives podcast.
