So in my last game, I brought WoC Trolls. I think my opponent had a little bit too hard to deal with it(unfair) so if you would know I would bring this list how would you build your list to beat it?
Is there a way to beat it for Dwarfs or is DP just too good?

Sooooo, am I allowed to list tailor, as that makes things a lot easier.
I also don’t know what your opponent has model wise but I’m guessing units of most things. I’m also guessing you don’t mind it taking the more competitive choices as on an earlier post you said you tend to build stronger lists.

DP’s are good there is no doubt about it, especially in smaller point games. I don’t know how often you or others in your group take him but I know I’ve rarely faced a WoC list without one since I started playing 8th. They are normally the build you have, which does make them a bit predictable and I don’t think I could go against a WoC player without tailoring to counter it.
Throgg is also excellent (and I’ve always thought undercosted in a list tailored to his strengths - lots of trolls) and the two of them together make this a solid list (especially as the DP is protected against the counter to trolls).
It maybe that I just have a dislike of WoC and DE’s as armies to play against 😀.
I’ve made a possible list for your opponent but it does have a fluffier element to it, as I can’t do full on lists (not with dwarves anyway!).

Ok so really you have two options with regards to your general approach to the game
1.) you try and kill the DP 2.) you avoid the DP and preferably tarpit it, then kill the other things to win on VP
I would definitely take a few cannons and also some Gyros. The Gyros have the option of the Brimstone Gun upgrade (useful against those High T/W units with Regen). Flame Cannons may have some utility against the Trolls too, especially if you can remove Throgg and start forcing low Ld Panic tests. Runes of Might on characters are probably pretty useful since they will be doubling their strength against most of that list
Option 2 is easy, you just shoot off the Chariots and the Shaggoth to start, make sure you don't get gimped by the hounds, then continue to remove units as and when possible. Slayers or Tank Lords can tie up his DP if you can get them into combat with him
Option 1 you have various tools which will do the trick, but getting them in the right place at the right time is tricky with Dwarfs vs Flying DP. Daemon Slayers can force the DP to re-roll ward saves whilst causing D3 Multiple Wounds. Combining this with the Master Rune of Flight for a heavy hitting shooting attack, along with/or using Runes of Might, Swiftness or Master Rune of Snorri etc can build some pretty horrific runic weapons for him to deal with. You would need to get to combat though. Ungrim Ironfist could probably take him down too since he is pretty tough and packs the Daemon Slayer/Dragon Slayer rules. He would probably fair well in general against that list.
But all in all, taking the unkillable DP in 2000 point games is a pretty dirt move in my book, I don't really see the point in it

Ungrim in a horde of Daemon Slayers with some appropriate Runes may be a good idea.
If I (as an Empire player) know my opponent has a DP Wizard, I usually bring Sivejir's Hex Scroll, and try to use it, when the DP is already in CC, or when I can shoot or charge him myself in my own turn. Doesn't do you any good, of course.

Thank you all. Regarding my list, it's the way I will paint my models. It is also a way for me to learn my units, but yeah I might run without a DP later on. It was nine months since last time I brought it and it's in my current painting queue. Feel free to add any list, both tailored or more general ones. Any unit is allowed. We can always proxy if we don't have it. Not like I see any difference between a long beard or a normal dwarf warrior. You guys/gals look all the same to me

I actually have never faced Chaos, believe or not. Nbody near me every played it, so I don't have the experience to provide detailed lists. Cannons & Slayers though would be my suggestions as well.

I could see solo Dragon/Daemon Slayers being useful as well actually

What sort of environment do you normally play in. Is it very competitive lists or some competitive, some fluff?
I ask as having now looked at both lists, yours is definitely at the competitive end whereas his is middle to lower end. I’m also guessing you destroyed him due to this post.
Without the exact list breakdown i can’t fully comment so I’ve just put a few thoughts around his existing list and where it could be improved (rather than fully rewriting it).
No one takes normal dwarves with hand weapon and shields in a competitive list (in fairness in any kind of list bar extreme fluff or as a challenge), their S3 is rubbish, if you want that armament from core, use them to proxy long beards. Also with the unit of GW dwarves and the Thunderers, that should have filled his core points, so he could have dropped the unit altogether and taken something else from special (slayers/hammerers/ironbreakers etc. Any of which would be better, though I appreciate there is a points limitation). The unit of 20 thunderers can also (sort of) perform the same task as the shield warrior unit (but with a ranged attack), again making the dwarf warriors with shields in the list a bit redundant.
Likewise not having engineers on both organ guns together with runes of accuracy (I couldn’t tell if they had these) really reduces their effectiveness (though you can get away with just runes). His placement of them directly behind his blocks, thus giving a -2 to his shots for hard cover (or so it looks like) must have really impacted their performance. (I’ll wait for the rest of the report to find out 😀).
I’d also say having one unit of 20 thunderers, rather than two units of 10 was also not recommended as it limits their flexibility (I’m also an advocate of taking xbows not handguns as I prefer the addition range over the AP but that is because I mainly use them for shooting chaff like your dogs and you can always decide for both units to target the same unit). If he didn’t take the shield warriors then 20 isn’t a bad idea, especially without a stubborn rune or bubble to fortify the units of 10 (unless the bsb had the Groth banner?).
It’s interesting that he also set up his thunderers in a block from the word go, rather than 10 wide in 2 ranks, as this wasted the points he spent on half the guns.
I hope I don’t offend him if he reads this but is he quite new to using dwarves, or does he play more for the fun of rolling some dice (and there is nothing wrong with that), or was just trying out things to see how they were on the table?

knoffles he has limited number of dwarfs and just painted his 3 gyrocopters, and he likes to use what you see is what you get but we are both open to proxies and as I said earlier I do not mind think he has 20 longbeards or hammerers somewhere still on sprue from AoW in the assembling queue. Regarding organ gun it was on a hill so we did not give it -2 as it had free a line of sight above. He did get 3 misfires first turn so he did lack an engineer. But the cannon had reroll rune.

Another point in xbows favour against this list is the ability to take double handed axes instead of shields. Whilst dwarf shieldwall is exceptional, in the case of facing trolls I would prefer the +2 strength

So do your opponent have one army each or don't check before to see what others bring? Or was it back in the day with high competitive tournaments? I would always try to bring something others don't bring as it's more fun for everyone but I do have a lot of options and kind of like them all.

I think it was just a function of being a 45 player tournament and 8 of the 45 people played warriors. And my odds were I got 3 of the 8. Lots of Chimeras that weekend, for sure. LOTS!
