So I repainted the base on the purple and grey dwarf and finished the test dwarf on the right. I also started painting the ten metal dwarves. This completed my 10 hours for July.

Make all of the trim purple instead of the gray up top. Also use a micro pen to outline those eyes so the poor fella doesn't look so, er, surprised. Keep it up Dan, I want to see this army in my basement.

You don't have a basement, sir. At least not one up to the lifestyle we've become accustomed to. 😆

I got an hour in so far for August leaving me with nine to go. I am working on the ten metal hand weapon and shield dwarves. I am going to try to paint all ten at the same time. This means that I probably won't have them complete for several months though. In the past I have typically painted 2 to 5 minis at a time (and most commonly 3). I will try the outline of the eyes with the micro pen Rich. I have always struggled with eyes.

1 1/2 additional hours for the last week making 2 1/2 total. I am working on the metals for the warriors. So I am a bit behind for the month. I go on a low key vacation in about a week and am planning on bringing my painting stuff so should be able to make up some lost time.

Since my last post I got in an additional 3 hours 15 minutes. Down to 4 hours 15 minutes left. Metals are done, went to shields and am working on beards now.

They look like dwarves that got a black power ring at the moment...could be a theme for an army Looking good indeed

So I got my 10 hours in for August. While on vacation I brought a box of skaven stormvermin and worked on assembling those simply because this required a lot less gear to pack up as compared to the gear I need to paint. I spent about 1 1/2 hours assembling (so still have a long way to go to finish assembling those 20 minis). Then rest of the time for the month went to painting skin and cloth which I am still working on.

Here is an update and some WIP pics of my dwarves. I finished my 10 hour goal for September last night. Base coat is done on all 10 and I made it part of the way through washing the unit.
I been doing this 10 hour goal for three months now and am glad I am doing so. I know 10 hours in a month isn't much but in the past I have had periods of several months with no time spent. This seems to be working good in that it keeps me on track with some regular progress.
Also in regards to painting in large batches (ie this batch of 10 as compared to 3'ish at a time that I have done in the past). I am happy with how they are turning out and I do think I have saved a bit of time being able to do the same colors on the batch of minis at the same time. Plus once complete I will have a table ready legal unit.

Danny, I think that your 10 hour goal sounds like a great place to start! I'm inspired to do the same!
I've been more than a little disappointed with my model production these past few months. I had to step away from the hobby for a bit because things were getting so crazy with the quads growing.
I've been trying to get back into painting by sitting down in the evenings after the kids have go down for bed, but without any real goal in front of me, it's been hard to motivate myself since I am usually worn out from work, chores and the kids. I think setting a goal like yours will give me something to work toward instead of "just another model finished".

Yeah, join in. It does keep me on track. It is just like you said with taking care of my one kid, work and chores it is tough to get motivated to do anything but play stupid smart phone games during free time. I will be sitting around in the evening and think to myself "I really don't feel like painting tonight but I need to make sure I get the 10 hours in". So I bring myself to head down to the basement to paint and once I sit down and actually start I really do enjoy it.

Lol, I'm exactly the same! I'm also afraid that when I get that tired, that my hand will start shaking or I'll rush the job just to get finished. I need to just do it though. Especially since I have a Dwarfs vs Wood Elves game coming up in two weeks.
