Very nice mate. Pike always look so impressive on the field. Are you thinking of using the fan book (Elias Matthias or what ever he’s called) for them? I’m also thinking a few of us should maybe get a campaign going. I know Luke B would be up for it. M Cheers bud! So I'm thinking I'll use that as a rule book basis, but I don't necessarily agree with everything it and there's very little in the way of "elite" troops, weighing up against other human armies there aren't any elite cavalry. So I'd be tempted to house rules some bits. For example, for the Bret cav, I'd quite like to use the Bret Knights of the Realm rules, so lance formation etc, but count them towards special or a rare choice. The Warhammer Armies Project book also largely nuked pikes so I'd mix some of the older rules like when charged in front you ASF and get +2 strength on first turn. Then subsequent turns it's just fight in +2 ranks with front rank, supporting rank, +2 extra. I love pikes- I've got about another 100 to build - whoops, don't tell the missus or I'll get the "Why do you buy so much?" Lecture! I'd love to do a campaign, Luke C and I were talking about a progressive campaign, starting at 500pts an army ( and using unfamiliar armies), hero and core units only, and working up to a 2500pts army through meeting objectives etc.

Looks great! So what is Tilea rule wise, color wise. Cheers mate! Tilea were never really fleshed out in the proper rules if memory serves me correct. Dogs Of War had their own rules and nominally they were employed in the army of Tilea. There were some really cool units like the Birdmen and Bronzino's Galloper Guns (I think that's right?). But the emphasis was on characters, so each unit champion was a 2 wound character with magic weapons etc so were expensive in terms of points and money cost. So there is a fan made 8th Ed book and an White Dwarf short army list. I'll use the 8th rules as a basis and change them around a bit. Colour wise, I think they tended to be more blues and whites and were based on the Renaissance Italian and Conquistador-era Spain. The emphasis was on the pike units. I think you can be flexible with colours though as the lore is they didn't have a standing army and relied on militias and mercenaries (hence the Wool Merchant Guild militia idea). I think the lack of defined lore and models is what makes them interesting as you don't have many constraints or people saying it should be a certain way etc as no one else is really interested in them!

Not so much of a painting update buy rather a building update to help me keep track of where I am.
Added to the army over Christmas:
20 archers 19 billmen who will be the Paymaster's bodyguard 30 Landsknecht pikemen to contrast with the other pikemen and to provide some variation amongst mercenaries A 5th ed Empire Bright Wizard on horse who will be a Level 4 Hireling Wizard
Still to arrive from Xmas and sales:
21 Halflings with bows; Halfling Hot Pot; 8 Polish Winged Hussars. I'll use these as Kislev Winged Cavalry and will look to expand to 10 when I get through my backlog a bit and am close to using the army.

So as I've not added to this log in a while - more to help me keep track. Photos to follow but I've finished the following:
Mercenary General Captain Paymaster Extended the unit of pikemen to 40 20 archers 20 more musketeers 15 heavy cavalry 20 halflings 1 cannon.
Now halfway through 32 great weapon mercenaries.
Still to go: 3 wizards, 40 pikemen, halfling hotpot, 2 more cannons and 20 paymasters bodyguard to finish! Nearly there!
Then still to build! 40 more pikemen and some Kislev cavalry.

Now I'm back on my computer, here's another photo dump! As I said earlier, I want this army to fluffy with a full background. I'll probably put the lore for all the units somewhere else. Here's my unit of pikes expanded to 40 with my Mercenary General, Domenico Castor in the front rank on the right. Paymaster - Name TBC Juan Jamesh - Castor's right hand man promoted back to a Mercenary Captain 2 units of handgunners with my fast cavalry in the background Old Martha, one of the cannons The Companions of the Golden Spoons Halfling unit with archers in background Current WIP unit with GWs - front rank right is another model that I will possibly use as a captain.

Awesome update. I love pikemen! The army is growing rapidly. Cheers! I love them too. I've got 40 landsknecht to do which I want to try and make quite gaudy and colourful and another 40 which will be 17thc pikemen models to give a more militia feel to them. One objective I have is that I don't want to use too many Empire or Bret minis as I want it to look like a separate army with it's own identity rather than repurposed models. Double edged sword as it means I have a huge range of minis to choose from but if I want to mix manufacturers in the same unit I need to watch out for true/heroic scale!

Yeah I definitely agree with keeping the army looking different from Empire/Bretonnia. Tilea/Dogs of War have such a unique flavour.

This is a great looking army! I always have loved normal humans in the Warhammer setting, it's nice to see all these historical minis re purposed for something greater!
Looking forward to seeing more

Cheers guys.
My next purchases are hopefully going to be a giant and some pirate themed ogres and maybe some Black Scorpion pirate dwarves to give it more of a fantasy feel
