Pre-thoughts He didn't really bring a super competitive list as he brought a wyvern. Mine is neither but I think my list will fare a lot better against OnG then it did against Skaven. I really love his painted squigs and his wyvern is slowly getting there too. Setup: We rolled blood and glory scenario! No one was prepared for it but it was even for both! Slain the general and win Magic: He got a foot and a hand of gork. I got a good roll with a double on thrones and of course, choose flesh to stone and the potential with regrowth and dwellers maybe doing something. Though about removing dwellers as his full army had at least S4 and up but regeneration 5+ (signature) is not so good with Treeman. I won dice of choosing side and choose the right side I thought knowing why( 9” sides prevented WM from using high grounds on the other side). I for once though in were to put the forest. I put it down as close to the middle were inthough I would hold my ground for the fight. I started deploying and got first turn. Turn 1 Wood Elves Charges No charges Movement I moved my combat units forward and claimed the woods and 1+ to cast. Scouts moved forward behind enemy lines as did hawks to reach behind wyvern charge angle. Magic 1/4 and he channeled. My higher casting made a huge 3 dice ToV that he let through and then he 5 dispelled diced my flesh to stone. Shooting My best first turn shooting round with woodies. My poison scouts had the option to Wound his wyvern but I opted for trying to remove the first turn kill of my Treeman with shooting the rock lobba. I hit two poisons on to hit and two more sixes to wound. My waywatchers annihilated his wolf riders. and my True flight GG together with the hawkes killed some squigs/handlers. Close combat No close combat. Orc and Goblins No animosity Charges No charges. Movement He moved his forces forward and the wyvern got a great flanking position. Magic He got a 5/6 plus a channel. 12 Power dice!! He started with dispelling my ToV. Then 5 diced hand of gork that I throw all my 6 dice at. He then failed on 4 five foot. Shooting He missfired with his doom diva that blew up... Close combat No CC

Turn 2 Wood Elves Charges No charges. Movement I moved the Hawkes forward to set up for a turn 3 rear charge where needed. I moved the lonely scouts towards the middle. I moved the waywatchers also towards the middle. The centre I did some small adjustments, Glade guard tried to find a position to shoot the squigs and not be charged in the flank of the wyvern. Magic Decent magic rolls ~5/3 and got off thone of vines and a huge flesh to stone on the treeman but he stopped the flesh to stone with double 6s. Shooting Waywthers managed to kill a single savage orc. The rest did a huge bump in the squig herd. And the lonely scout did a wound on the Troll. Close combat No Combat yet! Playing like a true Woodie. Orc and Goblins Failed animosity on savages but it was quelled with a friendly week bitchslap but the Black Orc BSB. Charges Wyvern charged the Treeman!!! I didn't see this coming but the gap was big enough for the Wyvern to land just between the units. Also, the save Orcs charged the Treeman. Movement Squig herd and Troll moved forward to be annoying and move me out of position if failing overrun test. Magic No good visible targets so he dispelled the throne of vines instead. Shooting No shooting Close combat Now the interesting stuff begins, we both would win if we managed to slain the other general so this combat was pretty all or nothing for both of us as low point blood and glory games tend to be for us. We both wanted to do challenges to let the general battle it out. First out was the Orc Boss and he managed to make a three wound on the Treeman with the first turn choppas, Second out was the Wyvern but it failed to wound. Treeman I opted for tree whack just because its fun to whack a mole an Orc. I were lucky and managed to do 2 wounds when failing half of his ward test (ToP) on the Orc General when he fails its I4 test with rolling a perfect 6, we both took a split second before we realized test fail on 6s. Treeman lost the combat but stood firm with LD 10 stubborn.

Turn 3 Wood Elves Charges I went all in on charges this combat. Eternal Guard and Warhawks charged the Squig herd, Rangers charged the lonely Troll and waywathers charged the Savage Orcs. The lonely scout failed its rear charge on the Troll and stumbled forward 5". Movement GG moved forward to a new position. Magic I opted to throw all my dice at Flesh to stone the Treeman and it went through. Shooting No shooting. Close combat Pretty big combat! and here i finally learned that Wood elves becomes pretty insane in woods when they get booth High Elves Martial Prowess and Dark Elves Murderous Prowess rules! The squig herd was annihilated before it was allowed to fight back with 13 wounds by the Eternal guard and 6 wounds from the war hawks targetting the handlers. Rangers made exactly 2 wounds needed to kill the troll with the troll succeeded with 6/8 regeneration dice Way watcher son the other hand took a pretty big loss killing 3 savages but lost 5 in return. Then came the final battle of the General. Orc Boss fought for his life managing 0 wounds T8 on the Treeman with the wyvern failing its attacks again until the Treeman said enough of this and whacked the OrcMole with failing another I4 test and failing the ward. Game OVer, Victory to the Elves!

ReCap! I was pretty lucky with the dice this game. First turn shooting was pretty crucial but also succeeded with two initiative test between the generals. Not sure tree whack was the right choice but too fun to do so just had too Very fun game to play and drink some pints at the same time and talk Warhammer. Our game takes pretty long as I talk too much

Looks like a fun game. I think the decision to Tree Whack was spot-on - the Treeman Ancient is pretty feeble in combat, and the all-or-nothing attack is worth the risk
Your opponent's big mistake was charging the Treeman with the Savage Orcs - what was that going to achieve? With the challenge, they weren't going to get to attack, and their impact on combat resolution was irrelevant for the Treeman which is Stubborn. At most, they'd ensure the Wyvern Boss doesn't lose combat - but that's one he should be expecting to win. He would have been better off smashing the Eternal Guard with the Savage Orcs instead (assuming the charge arc was there).

I think it had to do with the blood and glory scenario and general = win. wyvern needed a 19 to reach so if it didn't reach or if I would break from combat (still like 1/9 chance) he had two chances to run him down.

Woot, good to see your wood elf melee units finally make it into combat with more than a rank left 😆. Blood and glory is nasty at this points level but I like that you both still took big expensive models and face offs are always immense fun.

When we rolled scenario we discussed it we should roll again but came to the conclusion that it's was even for both players. I think it was the first time my eternal guard reached combat
