Glade Guard preview, hoping to finish the unit (9 + musician) this week Make a pledge in the monthly painting challenge I dont like pressure 😄 and I tend to paint what I feel like. I’m doing these GG in the downtime I have when washes on my Treekin are drying.

I really like how you’ve managed the glowing ‘rune’ patterns on both the treeman and Treekin. I’d love to know how you did it as I totally ballsed mine up due to a combo of eyes and unsteady hands 😀

I’d love to know how you did it as I totally ballsed mine up due to a combo of eyes and unsteady hands 😀 Its the last thing I did, and it was actually easier then I’d expected. First I used really watered down Warpstone Glow with a M citadel brush. I tried to follow the runes but ofcourse spilled (Thats ok we want that). The paint Will auto flow to the runes. Repeat with moot green and s citadel brush and voila

Next 3 Treekin in progress, as well as the first 2 waywatchers (to continue painting while wash on Treekin is drying). I’m maintaining my forest Black basecoat and Elves white basecoat as the Elves seem to turn out darker as intended (nevertheless i like them) Actually looking for Some advice. I want to do all the metal in the bronze i started on the caster and Glade guard (baltazar gold, agrax earthshade wash and sycorax bronze highlight). Including the blades on waywatchers, potential Spears and wildwood Rangers. But the conservative part in me says keep it at silver. Feedback?

If you're going for an "earthtone" paint scheme, then the bronze will be in that same thematic paint scheme, but will tend to be lost among the other, similar colors. If you want their weapons to stand out and have lots of pop, the a cool color, like silver, will stand out with a much higher level of contrast.
If you do choose to opt for the bronze color, a brightly colored highlight can greatly help. I'd even say it's a must.
You can take a look at my Wood Elf army thread if you want some similar examples. I have a very close paint scheme.

I'd suggest keeping weapon blades silver. As Mottdon says, too much bronze and it'll look too "samey" and the weapons won't stand out enough.

Almost up to the blade 😅 i’m still leaning towards bronze to be fair. I should have started with an other model, one I have 4 of, not 2 😅 on the other hand, Some models like the Eternal Guard and Wild Riders have so “much” metal (for Wood Elves) that only bronze would be quite boring. So silver might just be the only realistic call.
