Played another game yesterday with my Lizardmen featuring the most dreaded model a Lizardmen player can ever field: The Troglodon!!!

Great Battle report! The thing with the Troglodon for me is that it's not a hammer. It's a support monster that can also do some damage - or at least in my experience. And like you said requires a list tailored for it. If you have big saurus blocks, or temple guard, and cold one riders, then all of a sudden if they're engaged in battle, it can make a bigger difference, I think. Clearly though, it requires a lot of things to go right for it to work. The extra channeling isn't bad though!
The problem with the Troglodon to me is not that it's bad, it's just that there are better monsters for the cost (Stegs, Bastilodon, etc).

Great report and photos, as ever. I think no matter how much people try, the Troglodon remains underwhelming. It's a massive shame, as it's the coolest Lizardmen model (and the first I bought). Still, yours did respectably, and the Oldblood/Carnosaur obviously appreciated its contribution, hence the epic dismantling of the Bell at the end. I'd definitely agree you played things well, and your plan from the start worked out.

Nice report man, it’s great to have all that detail. I like detailed reports because then you can really understand what was going on.
Also, hindsight being what it is, I’m very surprised he didn’t just wheel those PMs into the center combat and get them in much sooner rather than playing a cat and mouse thing. Makes me sad for my favored rats!!!
Bro.... his magic phases were just painful to read about. You seem to have stopped everything that wasn’t cast with IF. Heartbreaking lol.
Did he know you had Heavens lore btw? I feel like that would have impacted his deployment decision a little bit only due to the stupid comet!!
Last thing: the home brew thingy, was that a vermintide replacement?

Great to see the Troglodon being fielded and like many I love the model.
I liked reading your thoughts on running a Monster Mash list over the standard Slann/TG based lists.
That moment in the game where the Grey Seer was sucked into the warp and nuked his own rats was immense! I was like oooooh snap. However it then became an A+ example of why the Earthing Rod can be a worthy item.

Agree, especially the bit where you stated you didn’t even own a Slann 😀

saniles: I think the reasoning on the Monks was that he wasn't expecting the Slave blocks to be defeated as quickly as they were, and the Slave blocks would just be in the way of the Monks until they were removed. The Monks could therefore just end up sitting around as the Slaves fought the center Saurus. The magic phases I do think I controlled rather well. The combination of Cube of Darkness and Dispel Scroll was really good! He did know before the fight I would be running Heavens, we rolled up magic prior to deployment. The homebrew spell wasn't a replacement for any spells, he made two new spells so that Pestilent Breath and Skitterleap could both be turned into Signatures. grandmasterwang: I agree on the Earthing Rod! I've never really considered using it, mostly because I forget it exists, but this game was a wonderful example of why you bring it! knoffles: I feel some shame in that front.
