The idea of these polls is to compare two similar Chaos Dwarf units head to head. The units may be similar in terms of function, unit type, battlefield roll, etc. The objective is to compare the units in terms of game play performance. So try not to include aesthetic, lore/fluff or model preferences in your decision. Simply which of the two units would you most often choose if you were building a competitive list? Magma Cannon vs. Deathshrieker Rocket LauncherIn favour of the Magma Cannon: - No minimum shooting range
- Flame template has 2+ strength and multiple wounds (d3) as compared to the Deathshrieker template
- Better for taking out elite armoured & higher toughness units and monstrous units
- More accurate (as long as you don't misfire and nominate your target point properly, you should hit nearly every time)
In favour of the Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher: - 45 points cheaper!
- 24" extra maximum range
- great versatility with two modes of fire
- Better at taking out single monsters/targets (via demolition rocket) or groups of low toughness/armour units
Vote and discuss!

I think they both really fulfill different roles.
The Magma Cannon is excellent. I really like the Dwarf Flame Cannon and the MC is basically that but with an additional 12" range for a mere 5 points extra. S5 Teardrop templates are nothing to laugh at.
Deathshriekers are also great and are a steal at 100 points. The big template is a scary proposition for ranked units (although only S3) and it also gives you a mini-cannon option for bigger targets. This is however less accurate.

As this is from a purely competitive sense I won't go into why I prefer the Death Rocket but I echo everything Horus has said in that it's hard to compare them directly as they fulfill different roles. I choose the Death Rocket though as the question was what would you use more often. At 100 points it's easier to fit into a competitive list for that reason. Now to 'justify' my pick as to the Death Rocket being more 'competitve' I'll say this: If I have 3 death Rockets (300 points) and you have 2 Magma Cannons (290 points) then I can kill your Magma Cannons with my Death Rockets much, much easier than you can kill my Death Rockets with your Magma Cannons. Glory to Hashut!

I like both and i also like the tripple set up 1 magma cannon 1 death shrieker 1 hellcannon I usually face, dwarfs, ogres, ong and now Lizzie’s. All T4 and my magma cannon has just earned back its points every game but my shrieker seldom does as the single point only hit 1/3 of the time when going monster/wm hunting and s3 is not as great vs t4.

I like the Death Rocket. I prefer to use it to take out single models and monsters then use the Dreadquake for larger units. I like to run 2 Rockets and 2 Dreadquakes.

Can't go wrong with a pair of deathrockets. They'll take care of your anti-horde and your anti-monster. Bring two so that at least one of them hits.

Glory to Hashut! That has nailed it for me. Anti-battery fire is always top priority. Though I would probably piss off my opponent in about 5 minutes, if I took the cannon, as 'Magma' would always be said in a 'Dr Evil' style.
