Hello all,
Not sure if this should go in General Discussion or not, feel free to move it if so. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this book if anyone has it. I'm thinking of getting a copy, I found one for a decent price, to help my painting. One of the stores I go to their resident painter swears by this book which is why I have interest in it and after looking through it briefly it looked pretty nice. Just wondering if anyone here can either convince me to pull the trigger on it or even to convince me otherwise. Thanks in advance!

? Did you link a picture? I don't see anything on here. It may not be showing up for me.

I found out the other day that he’s a member of our club. He tends towards playing the games I don’t which is why I hadn’t clicked on for ages. If you want to see a metric ton of his painted figures and are on FB, he posts them on our club page (SELWG) every day. He seems to love the North Star miniatures range (possibly he has an interest in it) but I love his painting of the Nightfolk range from Northumbrian miniatures. These really remind me of the Goblins from the Labyrinth film. I can’t comment on the book or his modelling but his painting is great.

Heh small world. Well good to know. Guess I’ll just sit on the fence on this till I decide to pull the trigger. I think he paints for Foundry miniatures and developed the 4 foundry system of layering??? At least that’s the work on the street.

I got the book, it helped me evolve my current painting style, the 3-step method rather than my old paintstyle, base, wash, highlight. Now I paint the darkest colour, add the main colour, leaving the deepest recesses & then a final highlight, looks a lot better imo, but it takes longer so not for every army (perfect for elite armies), here´s an example:

Good to know it helped you out as that’s what I’m looking for, something to learn from and improve my painting.
