Hi all,
So I thought I'd put my Dogs of War list up for a Triumph and Treachery game with Knoffles and a couple of guys at our club on Friday.
I decided to go with DoW as mostly I've played with Dwarves lately and fancied being able to move more than 6inches!
As ever please let me know your thoughts. I've used the Warhammer Armies Project book for this list. Largely the stat lines for troops are the same as Empire
Heroes
Wizard - level 2, Talisman of Protection, Dispel Scroll. 140 pts
Paymaster - full plate armour, Sword of Might, Enchanted Shield. 74 pts
Core
29 Pikemen - light armour, FC. 175 pts
Sellswords - 24, veterans, heavy armour, great weapons. 246 pts
Sellswords - 10, bows. 50 pts
Freelancers, 10, full plate armour, Lance's, shields, barded warehouses, FC, Banner of Swiftness. 265 pts
Special
Halflings - 15, short bows, skirmish, FC. 120 pts
Rare
Cannon - 110 pts
Halfing Hot Pot - 70 pts
Total - 1250 pts
In terms of tactics never played T&T so I'll have to see how it goes. I thought about using the halflings for the wizard bunker. The wizard is the general as I'm mandated to have the Paymaster (who acts as the BSB) and didn't want to go without any magic as I know Knoffles is bringing his Wood Elves and the other two players in the game will likely bring High Elves and either Chaos/Brets.
Any thoughts are appreciated!

a couple thoughts: - T&T works quite a bit different than normal games. in particular you will occasionally get 'double-turned'. And, you typically start very close to each other. This makes easy victory points like cannons a prime targets for some kind of rush attack. on the other hand, you might get two shots in a row on some juicy target. so, a high risk, high reward play. I might tone it down to one war machine. - upgrading halflings to scouts is awesome. with four players and the way deployment zones work in T&T you should be able to find a good spot for them. But, then they can't be a wizard bunker. (not 100% sure they can be in the first place, I thought there was some form of racial distrust in the list). FC seems a bit overkill. - paymaster bodyguard are really awesome (stubborn!). depends on if you have the right models of course. I would take those over sellswords. - I wouldn't be overly concerned about magic. More often than not you or somebody else will have a treachery card to ruin the caster's day. But, my experience is limited to 800pt games, maybe it gets a little wilder at your point level.
Have fun!

I'm pretty sure that Halflings and Humans (except Norscan marauders) are the only ones who don't have racial distrust. All the others do. I might drop the Hot Pot then and the FC from the Halflings. I'll have a rethink on the Sellswords with GWs. The reason I took them was to give me some strength 5 attacks. However I've checked the Paymasters body guard and they are S4 WS4 as standard with a halberd! Whoops!

The face of the enemy! 😉 Unfortunately Bluke can’t make Friday (he might still be in China) so I’m trying to line up another player. Possibly Callum who’s stunning dwarves were in one of crownprinceimrik’s recent reports. Just waiting for him to confirm one way or another. I’ll chase him up today and if not see if someone else is available.

Looking good. Maybe drop the sword of might? He is only getting so much use out of it with his two ws4 attacks. Wardsave instead? One of the finer points of t&t is that coins are scored in 50pt increments. So e.g. right now your halflings will give up two brass if destroyed. If you drop one model from the unit, it's only one brass. Minor things.

Expect an update as we only have 3 players so will be increasing to 1500pts

Cheers mate! I didn't know about the ole coins thing! They don't even tell you what you are getting into. The treachery starts even before the game. It's T&T at its best!
At 1500 pts I would try to fit in a mercenary general, for Ld9 alone. maybe even with one of these cool special traits. sets it apart from an 'Empire-light' list. or can only the merchant prince take those? I can't quite remember.
Take some pictures. Now I want to know how the brave Dogs of War handle this job.

Ha yes! In a further duplicitous plot by that Knoffles character I thought it was 25% lords and heroes not 25% each! Whoops! I'll have another rethink if I get chance before tonight. I'm also sure Knoffles will do a write up of the game. I assume the third opponent will be bringing his High Elves. Tempted by the Lore of Metal for this match. The Signature is good against high armour and I feel itll be a small elite army like Knoffles'

In my defence I’ve never played t&t just watched a couple of mini Wargaming reports. Tim has played a few though. Taking into consideration unit sizes for points is sneaky. If only I’d thought of it lol

So my final list was
Lords
Mercenary General - 90 Full plate armour, Halberd, Grizzled warrior, Talisman of Preservation, dragonhelm. 194pts
Heroes
Wizard - level 2, Talisman of Protection, Dispel Scroll. 140 pts
Paymaster - full plate, Enchanted Shield, Shrieking Blade. Ruby ring of Ruin. 89 pts
Core
33 Pikemen - light armour, FC 195 pts
13 Sellswords - bows, skirmish. 78 pts
10 Freelancers, full plate, Lances, shields, barding, FC, Banner of Swiftness. 265 pts
Special
14 Halflings, short bows, skirmish, scout. 98 pts
22 Paymasters Bodyguard- full plate, halberds, FC, Standard of Discipline 331 pts
Rare
Cannon - 110 pts.
Total 1500 pts
I got trounced in short but there was some good learning points in our first outing;
I wanted to try out the Lore of Metal because I'd never used it. But against Wood Elves and High Elves it wasnt the best choice.
I would also have been better with a level 4 and a captain instead of a fighting lord and a level 2 as both sides had level 4s.
The general was decent but ended up being run down when one of my opponents crashed into the pike regiment with three units of Reavers - front, flank and rear, and then used the smoke bomb card so I had no rank bonuses.
I need more practise with cavalry after almost exclusively playing with Dwarves since my return to fantasy a year ago. I've forgotten all about movement and magic!
Don't deploy with Wood Elves on one side and High Elves which cram Swordmasters, Phoenix Guard and White Lions into 1500 pts!
I also still can't roll well to save my life!
All being said, I like how it's coming together and looking forward to using them again. I think they'll have a slightly more competitive eg and feel less Empire-lite when I add in some Maneaters etc.
