I'm just curious roughly how long it takes everyone to paint a mini. I know this is a very broad statement so more specifically why don't we say a roughly man sized rank and file mini. Assume the mini is already primed and the time should include finishing the base.
For me a rank and file dwarf is some where around 3 hours.

I think my average time for a rank and file goes down the more i am painting. I reckon the Stormcast Liberators were probably around the 3 hour mark for a unit of 6 but my dwarf miners were probably an average of 1.5 hours for a unit of 15.

I'm probably around 2 hours per guy. This is assuming they are models I've painted before and I'm just making more of them. If someone handed me, say, a saurus it would probably be a different scene.

I did an experiment for the Da Warpath painting calendar 2015. The rules were that each day, one member would paint something from start to finish and post it in the calendar. I decided to paint a Night Goblin Boss in a single sitting to find out exactly how long it takes me to paint one model. Undercoated and ready for paint. 34 minutes later (static grass still drying). I normally work on 10-20 models at a time, and this is a Boss so he has a bit more detail on him, So I would guess I spend about 25 minutes on each rank and file model.

As others have mentioned, if it's a rank and file infantryman that I've painted others of before I'd say the time is between 30 and 60 minutes. Cavalry around 2 hours. Ogre sized really depends on the amount of detail, but is probably in the 90 minutes to 3 hours range. Characters and monsters take longer obviously. I did this miniature yesterday in two sessions totaling 5 hours.

For key models I would say it is closer to 2-2.5 hours depending on size. Rank and file is an hour or so less.

Anton speed painter extraordinaire I tend to paint in batches between 3 and 6. I would day each batch probably takes me about 5 or 6 hours? Dwarf are generally quicker, elves slower because of the fiddly-ness. I don't get many sessions in where I can for extended periods (2 young kids) which I think slows me down quite a bit. It took me around 1-2 hours last night to get the full basecoat and first wash on my 3 miner command models and I expect it will take me maybe 2-3 more hours to finish them off in terms of highlights and details etc plus however long it takes to freehand the banner

I never keep track, but I feel like I'm super slow. At least comparatively. There are so many amazing painters out there that just spit stuff out like a machine, I don't know how it's done. TheREALricksalamone and Anton are examples here.
