Not to steal Vazalaar's fire here, but here is my take on the Slaugterpriest...
SLAUGHTERPRIEST OF KHORNE
Slaughterpriest M:4 WS:6 BS:3 S:5 T:5 W:3 I:6 A:3 LD:8
A Slaughterpriest of Khorne may be included in any Warriors of Chaos, Legions of Chaos, or Grand Legion of the Everchosen army. His points cost counts towards the army’s Hero allowance.
Points: 215
Troop Type: Infantry, 40 mm base.
Equipment: Hand weapon and chaos armour.
Options:
• May be equipped with a great weapon for +6 pts or an additional hand weapon for +3 pts.
• May have magic items worth up to 50 pts.
• May take Chaos Mutations and Powers worth up to 25 pts.
• May ride a Chaos Warshrine (that has the Mark of Khorne) for +135 pts.
Special Rules: Eye of the Gods, Hatred (Wizards), Mark of Khorne, Magic Resistance (1).
Praise of Khorne: A Slaughterpriest of Khorne may channel dispel dice in the same manner as a Wizard. In addition, all Wizards (friends and foes) with 12” of a Slaughterpriest suffer a -1 penalty on their casting rolls when casting a spell.
Blood Prayers of Khorne: Slaughterpriests of Khorne know the following three Blood Prayers of Khorne. Blood Prayers are innate bound spells (power level 5) and count as augment spells. If a miscast is rolled however, roll another D6 after resolving the prayer. On the result of a 1, the Slaughterpriest suffers D3 Strength 10 Hits as Khorne’s unforgiving wrath falls upon him.
• Bloodbath: With a hate-filled gaze blazing of fire, the Slaughterpriest utters vile praises to the Blood God evoking the blood flowing through the veins of his enemies. The Slaughterpriest’s foes burst in glorious explosions of red gore as their blood boils and sizzles before bursting forth from their flesh.
The Slaughterpriest and the unit he is with gain the Fear special rule. In addition, all enemy models in base contact with the Slaughterpriest and the unit he is with suffer a Strength 4 hit (Strength 5 if the model has the Forces of Order alignment).
• Blood for the Blood God!: With a bloodcurdling roar, the Slaughterpriest bellows the war cry of Khorne: ‘Blood for the Blood God!,’ invigorating the blood and ichor of nearby followers of Khorne and whipping them into a bloodthirsty furor of slaughtering euphoria.
The Slaughterpriest and all models with the Mark of Khorne (including all Daemons of Khorne) within 6” of the Slaughterpriest gain the Hatred special rule, until the beginning of the Slaughterpriest’s next Magic phase.
• And Skulls for His Throne!: The Slaughterpriest and the unit he is with gain the Strider and Swiftstride special rules, until the beginning of the Slaughterpriest's next Magic phase.

KevinC, not at all. I was hoping you would post your version! It's a different take on it, I need to test both versions. My version is a bit stronger in the dispel phase because of the +2 to dispel, but doesn't channel. I like the Blood Prayers of Khorne miscat addition. I used Blood Boil as its offensive prayer, but made it a hex so it can be cast when/and in combat. Blood for the Blood God is very strong. The enemy will certainly try to dispel this spell. You have reduced the slaughterpriest to two attacks, in the same way as a warrior priest. I have kept the standard 4 attacks for a Chaos hero. I have done this, because I assume he is a follower of Khorne -> fighting machine and imo two base attacks doesn't do the impressiveness of the model justice. @therealricksalamone. I need to assemble mine from the ST expansion box asap, as I need him this thursday. Please post the pic.

Eye to eye with a man on a horse Ok, just unfair... Based purely on the model and the khorne fluff, I'd say 3 wounds and maybe s5 t5. He is truly gifted by Khorne to bring slaughter, built for that task alone. His stature and battle fury is meant to draw others to follow the blood God. Give him whatever battle prayer things would make him similar to warrior priests. I could see him riding on my Khorne Dozer!!

I see what you are saying, but look at an Ogre Irongut. Elite Orges that are S4, T4. I gave him the T5 to represent to huge stature. You could are him with a Great weapon and make him S6.
I like the idea of being able to ride a War Shrine.
The main issue I have with S5, T5, W3, with 4 Attacks is that he becomes as good as a Lord. Perhaps he should be a Lord choice...

I like the lord idea. Lower the options for magic items maybe.

I agree that the 2 attacks in Kevin's version is not enough for the model and background (khorne). Also the Blood for the Blood God! spell in Kevin's version is nasty. I guess this is a play test item and at the moment I am not sure of a different way to do this but this spell appears to be sick. If it was a lore spell (instead of a bound spell) I would say it should be in the 20+'ish area to cast but this is a 5+ (just the nature of bound spell). Maybe the lord option would be better because it would increase the point cost and make taking one more of an investment.

If it gets the boosted stat line or would almost certainly need to be a lord choice. The base stats alone, without magic choices, almost dictates this. Plus, you are not fitting that stat line in at the points Kevin gave. Remember, there had to be some trade off. If Khorne gave in to the use of magic he would be spiteful enough to damage even a loyal follower enough to keep him in place.

Also remember that model size is not, and should not, alway be a justification for an increased characteristic. For example, most general-type Lord choice have 4 Attacks regardless of race – Skaven, Goblin, Orc, Bretonnian, Empire (Grand Master), Wood Elf, High Elf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, etc.
Also just because something is big, does not mean it needs an increase in all relevant characteristics. T5 on its own is enough to represent the Slaughterpriest's huge stature. I think he should be T5, W2 OR T4, W3, but not both T5 and W3 (otherwise he should be lord choice, and maybe that is fitting).
We should be careful not to make the Slaughterpriest a 'get your cake and eat it too' choice.

He actually looks really cool and even more intimidating on the 25mm square. Geez what an absolute brute! That bretonian archer would be terrified! I am reading the rules/debates with much interest. Should the slaughterpriest have 2 profiles? One for a hero and one for a lord choice? If the slaughterpriest as a hero has T5 to represent his size and stature then i dont feel he really needs S5 and/or W3 additionally. I probably lead towards the Slaughterpriest being more of a powerful hero choice than a Lord choice. Between the choice of S5 or W3 to go with the T5 to represent the model i would go with W3 over S5. St4, T5, W3 is the profile of a Tomb Prince hero choice so i think the Slaughterpriest could still be a hero choice despite a rocking profile. Regarding the bound spells for KevinC's version the 2nd one is far too powerful imo. Either Hatred (like the Chaos Dwarf spell) or the extra attack is already a solid buff. Doubling up is not really necessary imo and makes the spell very OP considering it is a bubble. Regarding attacks the Slaughterpriest has 3 including his Mark of Khorne right? That doesnt seem so bad.

grandmasterwang, I agree with much of your assessment. I don't think the Slaughterpriest should have a great profile + prayers, otherwise why buy another Champion of Khorne?
Even if he has T5, W3, than he needs to keep A2 (which can increase anyway – mark of khorne, option to buy an additional hand weapon).
2nd prayer should be toned down.

He has frenzy giving him his third attack. I think that works fine. If anything I would say give him killing blow, either as a always special or in challenges he has killing blow.
