So I'm going to write EEFL rules for this version of Grom. Even though there is some high tech in there...it's nothing the Chaos Dwarfs couldn't come up with. Perhaps the Chaos Dwarfs reconstructed Grom after he was defeated and severally injured by the High Elves...

Or when Ludwig decapitated him in the old campaign before we went out for Chinese food with Mario.

Can't say I'm that excited about IP infringement clearly these are knock offs of classic GW models. I know GW's not making them anymore - but making money off someone elses artistic creativity isn't something I can get behind.

I don't see it that way. The aesthetic is that of the original sculptor, Kev "Goblin Master" Adams, and these too are his figures. GW clearly dropped the Kev Adams style when he left GW. So I don't see it as a knock off. When Kev Adams left GW in the '90s, he continued to sculpt miniatures in HIS style, including hundreds of other non-GW Orcs & Goblins figures he has done.
These guys are producing models akin to classic '80s/'90s stuff, I think it's cool.

Kevin there are pictures of zoats, genestealer orc hybrids and a pretty close replica of Grom the Paunch. This isn't continuing his aesthetic it's recreating almost seemlessly the work that was done for GW in the past. This isn't continuing in the same vein this is copying what he's done before. Howeever I didn't realize it was the original artist so it depends on what his employment contract with GW said about rights to the designs he created.
Some of my work involves creation of IP that has potential significant cash value - I've signed a contract with both of my employers in my career that gives them varying degrees of commercialization control on what I might create in the future. I know it's there for work I do 'on the company's clock' and even if I leave they've got some rights over me recreating the same thing downstream. (Mind you I've never created anything that anyone cares about!)

Yeah, some of that's okay but the majority of this is a clear copycat job. The hybrid ork is especially bad.
Nice to see there's a Grom-expy model for people, though. I always did wonder where those exploding high elf magic stones sent him..

In the UK, at least in the 80s and 90s, the copyright for any type of artwork is in reality the artist's.

When GW first released their "failcast" I knew things were going bad at GW so I bought an entire orc and goblin army on ebay all from the early 90's using the O&G army book from 93 , the one with yellow cover. I am doing a Grom chariot conversion using squigs instead of wolves too. I think the artist Adams understands IP better than most people on the street because he has changed the model enough to avoid any legal issues. This is the main reason GW created AoS , to have a product that is completely unique , but fat orcs with axes arent unique so Adams has nothing to worry about and I will be looking forward to collecting these new mini's. Honestly miniature collectors should be glad that artist like Adams are creating new miniatures, I know I am.
