Anybody used the normal Dwarf models painted/converted as Chaos Dwarfs? I'm thinking the 8th edition plastic kits aren' too bad a base tbh, lots of armour to represent the blackshard and especially irondrakes make a simple blunderbuss.
Thoughts?

I've never seen that done, but it might be possible. You could always Green Stuff big hats on them. Things like Fireglaves might prove a problem though.

You may just add some Chaosy stuff (helmets/masks, spikes and etc, shields) maded from greenstuff or from original chaos kits (warriors helms/marauders shields) and it will awesome. And don't forget the hats and the "babilonian" beards of course! Also: I've seen fireglaves maded from 40k chaos stuff (lascannons? Whatever it's name? A rifle with dragon head) and blunderbusses maded from FB chaos knights musician (the same dragon maw). Or you may use weapons from AoS naked-ass dwarfs for it. See Chaos-dwarfs . com galleries for inspiration. Edit: these converted dudes are just for example, it's not mine work.

ta for the replies guys, the age of....damn I can't even say it!- anyway the slayer cult on round bases GW sell currently have models with perfect fireglaives but they are rather expensive with only 5 in a box. Definitely something to consider when I get bored.

Lost kingdom miniatures have beautiful chaos dwarfs. I use them for my troops and characters and the forge world ones for war machines.

A guy at my local GW years ago made his Chaos Dwarf army like this. It was pretty cool. He would play them as dwarfs (this was before Tamurkhan was released) but they were obviously Chaos Dwarfs. Later he started using the FW rules once they were released. Thunderers and the old dwarfs/night Goblins box set formed the base for most his army then lots of greenstuff/conversion.

I saw this guys converted Chaos Dwarf army at a tournament once. Looked pretty cool up close. He converted regular dwarfs to looks like soviet dwarfs. I found a few pics on bell of lost souls.

3d printing is another option you may want to look into. wilsonthenarc is currently working on a chaos dwarf army and much of it was printed by jerkface

Think someone on the Chaos Dwarf forums sells Chaos Dwarf hats, if hats are your thing (which they should be).
