The title of this thread is pretty prophetic with the new WD leak: m.imgur.com/a/8Ec70#ehPcu5f(Free White Dwarf download for TW:W) Also, I know a Mordheim game was confirmed in the works but I believe I heard mention of Necromunda as well. In anycase, new Mordheim skirmish app for those needing to scratch that fishy itch. legendary-games.com/mordheim/splash/(It was actually discussed on Dakkadakka that GW has a team planning on alot more of this kind of game release. So at least the Old World will live on in our phones. )

There are only 2 ways White Dwarf can really redeem itself for me, the first is if WFB returns (not some horrible AoS mish-mash) or they release a game I am interested in such as Necromunda. The second is if they manage to start producing some proper general hobby articles again. I am always up for some nice terrain building tutorials or some proper painting articles like those which went into the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass book (love this book) Until they convince me they are producing some of these on a long term basis I think I would rather cling onto my £60 a year and use it to feed my eBay habit instead This. I just can't do it. If something like Mordheim actually catches on and GW supports it, then I might go for that, but until they do, I just can't spend more money on some pretty pictures of a game that replaced the game I love.

Bloodbowl is in the works - that's a game I could get very excited about.

I've been reading the second issue and I must say I like it a lot! The way they handle the Genestealer Cult release takes me back 10 years or more. Designer's Notes by both miniatures designers and game developers, background information, a custom scenario and a battle report against a very thematic opponent (Deathwatch). I haven't played much 40k in the last few years but this makes me want to go out and at least buy a codex.
Sadly, the AoS batrep last issue didn't do the same for me at all. The background just isn't engaging enough for me. Not the way the 40k universe or the Old World is.

I agree with Anton, besides the lack of WFB content (which is, of course, a big deal) the new WD is really good. GW seems to be doing everything else right. I did enjoy the first issue. And the 2nd issue is totally awesome with the Genestealer Cults.

I enjoyed issue 2 as well. I read it for 2 hours yesterday. A full size, full length magazine feels good - even if there aren't many ranked up knights fighting ranked up goblins. In all fairness, I want it to be good - so my judgment is clouded. Issue 1 = 8.5 Issue 2 = 8.25

Just an update. We've had three issues of the NEW White Dwarf. I have read each issue cover to cover. I want to buy Thousand Sons Space Marines (Space Tomb Kings??!!!). I want to buy Genestealer Cults. Have you seen some of the recent pricing by GW? Maybe they're making me love them all over again.
Anyone else subscribed to White Dwarf? What is your opinion?

I am subscribed... i wish i had my Thousand Sons issue already.
I had some issues with my initial being weeks late but GW sent me a replacement.
I have not had cause to regret my subscription so far. There in imo about 3 times more actual content in these ones than there was in the monthly issues just before they turned weekly.

I'm glad WD is back to something readable again. But since I don't play 40k or AoS I can't really justify the price.
Was the third issue as good as the others?

The Bloodbowl issue (December) had quite a bit of content and took me a while to read through.
I was more into the Thousand Sons/Magnus stuff than Bloodbowl.
There was something positive i noted however... they called a dwarf a dwarf... none of this Dwarf nonsense.

Well of course, he made it into AoS and like any good dwarf isn't about to change tradition. The recent White Dwarf has been awesome, really great reviews all round. Not as much fantasy as there should be but some of those armies on parade are worth it!

Yes, four issues in, I am feelin' it. It's a good magazine. It actually got me to go out to my FLGS and buy some new GW stuff. Which I promptly put in square bases, harrumph, but that's besides the point.
