That's pretty sweet, wonder what kind of product will be offered through that!

I would love some oldhammer stuff but I can't see it happening.

yep, much depends on their definition of 'old'.

They should have been doing this forever!
If they started producing some of the OOP stuff that ebay scalps you for (ie Chaos Dwarfs/Hobgoblins etc) it would be absolutely amazing

If they started producing some of the OOP stuff that ebay scalps you for (ie Chaos Dwarfs/Hobgoblins etc) it would be absolutely amazing I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see that happening. Seems like this will be for the more recent oop stuff and maybe a very select few true oldhammer models. I do hope I'm wrong. There are a handful of old minis that have been on my want list for years.

Yes I expect you're right, tbh any of the proper wfb range they continue producing is most welcome

I don't know I think if they are smart seeing the secondary market (and recast/copied sculpt market of their sculpts) it makes a lot of sense to say 'you want that stuff we'll sell it to you for cheaper.' Given that others are ripping off their IP/making big dollars off OOP sales by scratching oldhammer itches it makes sense for them to fill that itch and drive the price to where IP copiers can't make as much of a profit. For example see this listing and ask what % look just like an old GW cast www.chaos-dwarfs.com/wiki/index.php?title=Alternate_Chaos_Dwarf_ModelsI know guys who used to work in the casting room and the pull to order room. The problem was there was so much darn stock in the catalog it was very hard to manage that inventory (tons of lead just sitting on shelves waiting for someone to ask for Brettonian knight errant head #4) but cast to order is a lot easier to manage inventory with. Material will probably be finecast as it's easier to work with and doesn't wear out the molds as quickly. My understanding from other social media is it depends on what molds still survive. They'll go where they have the most demand first but if enough folks ask for big hat chaos dwarves I bet they will cast them.

You just wrote a sentence with the words "GW" and "sell for cheaper" together.

Wait until you see what GW's going to charge for this, Horace. They may be every bit as pricey... and failcast with all it's flaws to boot.

My understanding is that GW's best molds were all purposely destroyed years ago. So I don't understand what this is all about.

There's conflicting reports, but some believe (or maybe know) that GW has kept the majority of old masters. If that's the case, they can remake any of the old molds. I do know that some of the old stuff has been sold off to foundry. They have put many of the oldies back into production, which is awesome. I think maybe iron wind or a couple of other current companies may have a few of the molds as well. They could also probably recreate just about any old model using the technology available today. Zero % chance of that though. I imagine that this will just be about recent oop stuff anyway.

Get away from eBay. The oldhammer Facebook group and forum are so much better places to buy vintage lead. I've even found some awesome deals on bartertown for oop minis.

Coleman that's not what I've heard from guys who worked in the US main headquarters. But molds wear out and break accidentally. Particularly with the pre CAD designs it may be hard or impossible to recreate.
