Just letting you guys know the starter set is coming back. So if there's a model(s) you wanted from it here's your chance. Also, not certain on the price yet but it looks to be between $60-80.

Very interesting. Especially regarding the square bases being included. Any small nod to 8th edition is a good thing.

Wow. I too am most shocked about including square bases...

Any direct links to sourcing? Seems surprising particularly the very low price point!

At this point I'd consider buying it for the bases.

The USA pricing isn't 100% confirmed but my friend did find a good indicator: So yeah, this is gonna sell fast so be prepared. I imagine they're clearing stock for the rumored Tzeentch vs Dwarf starter set that's been rumored for quite awhile now. Certainly the leaks GW is showing on their community sight is pointing that way.

Thanks for the info..
That set had some great models.
I did wonder what they were going to do with all the old boxes they removed from stores.
Technically AOS supports square bases so it's much cheaper for GW to include them rather than replace them with rounds. Also the elfs and skaven are kinda small and fit nicely on the 20mm squares.
I really love the Lothern sea guard unit sculpts and the griffin lord.

I wish this was like foreshadowing that they are going backwards a bit and fixing the mistake. But I know games workshop and they don't care about us...

Heck man they sponsored the Da Boyz GT knowing that some of the prizes were likely going to the 8th ed guys. Square bases in the packages probably means they also know 8th/9th players are out there with a hankering for these products.

This has got to be the new CEO.
Roundtree has shown a lot more aptitude than terrible Kirby.
Also..... what Tzeentch vs Dwarf AOS starter set? If it has Silver Tower level models for Tzeentch and better dwarf models than BFSP I'm so in.

It's ironic. GW started to making good decisions and generally improving things all across their ranges -- but AFTER they killed Warhammer. I don't even dare to hope they'll bring it back in some form. If 8th edition 40k looks good I'll probably get back into that. They've put out some incredibly cool books recently -- and in keeping with the current background.

That is assuming killing WFB was a bad decision. Take a look at market share and total sales for WFB over the last 15 years. Continuous decline despite 40K being run by the same company maintaining its place as top dog there weren't many new players the last few years of 8th in the NE US. AoS killed off the old hammer players but brought in a lot newbies. We may not like the decision to axe WFB but don't assume it's a bad business decision.

Yeah, the end of Wfb was unfortunate but it certainly wasn't out of the blue. Ever since 2010 there was all kinds of rumors and articles saying fantasy was dying and GW was getting ready to close it down. Either GW had to do some serious race destruction to keep cumbersome rank-and-file armies viable, so they stopped spending more on maintaining armies than they made in back in profits, or they switch to a easier to get into skirmish-focused format that brought in more customers. (I think IP name changes were inevitable either way) Looking at Reddit Age of Sigmar, it's subscribers are nearly at 4,000 in a year and a half compared to Reddit Warhammer fantasy who after several years is just now approaching 3,000 subscribers. The best thing is that AoS is bringing in alot of people who've never played tabletop before. That's a benefit to the entire hobby. Also, pre-orders are up: www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Age-of-Sigmar-Spire-of-Dawn-ENGSeriously, hurry. They selling out in alot of places fast.

grandmasterwang, It's an old rumor that came out with a bunch of AoS leaks. At first the rumor said a game called Silver Tower would be the starter set with Tzeentch vs Dwarfs and heroes. Obviously that was only half-right, the leak did get other things right like the season campaign and start collecting sets. Now GW have teased a steampunk object with a dwarf symbol on it and are constantly showing new Tzeentch stuff. The recent Tzeentch beastmen are even cross-compatible as they have parts for both 40k and AoS. So it's looking the new dwarf faction (Steamhead Dwarf, engineers who use flying machines for warfare) will be facing off against a new Tzeentch army with yet to be released models. I imagine it'll be after the new General handbook is released so they can include points for all the new stuff.
