With the new, Old World announcement I'm thinking about how I can pivot my Fantasy focus to best prepare [though I know in my heart that any such thing may very well be a falacy!]
So, With Bretonnians and Tomb Kings the first to be served I'm actually in a good position to take advantage of this.
I've been collecting Vampire Counts models for a while now [see my post re daft throw away bids on eBay for numerous/egregious numbers of chainwraiths] and although I don't have a fully painted army I have quite a chunch of rotted flesh and eternally blood hungry individualy [13 Vampires at last count]
As a tangent I got hold of Arkhan the Black from the old End Times Mortarch box and intend to run him on a 4 horsed chariot. So this places me well to collect a small Tomb King Force with Arkhan at its head. So this army will really be simply Arkhan, and whatever makes a legal army in the new edition, plus some Ushabti, as I've always loved Ushabti. I'm thinking the 'points entry level' for the new edition will be a lot lower and so a cheeky 1k or 1500 TK army is perfectly doable.
Secondly, and still onthe undead theme, I started out on my Vampire Counts journey after reading The Red Duke, scourge of Aquitaine and then becoming transfixed with Mousillon and Merovech the Mad. So yes, an Army of Blood Knights and Black Knights! Blood Knights being Grail Knights and Black Knights being Knights of the Realm. I still plan to complete this army albeit with Vampire counts models, or heavily converted new Bretonnian models and use the new Bretonnian rules, again with a little twist...
So, do you guys plan to ammend your focus to accommodate the new edition...?

Looking forward to picking up some boxes of plastic discontinued kits, if they return (white lions for one). Apart from that, I definitely have my eye on TKs. The closest I have to them is a bunch of 4th Ed skeletons. The chariots and skeleton horses fit the aesthetic well but I really want some of the monsters and ubashti and tomb scorpions (hopefully in plastic).

I realized the other month that I want to collect the combined elf hosts - cause who doesn't like all the elves under one banner led by Malekith?
So with that in mind I'm looking forward to seeing High Elves and Wood Elves returning back to the fold, as I want to add them to my Dark Elves.
I'm also hoping to see a miniature for Malekith return as well, as I never picked him up, and when he does show up on Ebay he's terribly overpriced.
The only other armies I'm planning to start are Lizardmen and Chaos Daemons, and they're pretty well represented ATM so I will continue to do what I've been doing, just scouring eBay looking for good deals on used stuff, occasionally buying brand new.

I don't think TOW will change much other than that I'll buy more models again. Over the last few years my armies have changed from being "gaming focused" to "collecting focused" with models I like in "reasonable to paint" quantities rather than optimal unit sizes.
I now essentially collect every WFB army, but with very limited Daemons, Tomb Kings, Empire and Brets. Daemons will probably stay a small part of a wider "Legion of Chaos" army; Tomb Kings likewise within "Undead Legions" though if they do get amazing core units I may collect them as more of a standalone army. Empire I'm hoping for new core models before I fully round my army out, and Brets I just need them to start selling again.

Sooooo with 2 armies you're lacking numbers in just so happenning to be the 2 publicised to be getting Love first in TOW.... you could focus on to them!

I'm sticking to my current goal of getting all my High Elf stuff built and painted. I will definitely get some Old World stuff, however, it will either be shelved (Brets and tomb king big box), or if the rules are good and I am happy with the game I might start Brets since they will have the new base sizes ready to go. Really just doing my thing as normal and will adapt once we have something in hand. This is a very different approach to my 40k (sorry for OT) plans as I scraped my army painting for now and jumped to getting some terrain done till the new ed drops.

I don't think we'll be getting a 'Big Box'
More like faction starter boxes...

I've let the disappointing reveal sink in before I made any 'serious' decision on what I'll let the old world do to my hobby (If anything). After thinking about it this week, I think I'll carry on painting armies as I have been. Which means using what ever bases I think works best for the unit I'm working on. I've gotten very found of using 25mm squares having started using them for oathmark and I find dwarves and humans look pretty damn snazzy on them. I'll keep using 20mm for goblins (always my main army) as I like the how they look, and for skeletons (No way am I risking my nicely painted unit of warlord game skellies just to add another 5mm to a base!). For the old world itself, I think all I'll do is I will specifically buy what ever deal/start collecting box they have come out for goblins and base those 'correctly' for the current rules. That way I have most of an army that would be usable for any edition going forward should I have any massive life changes and I find myself wanting/needing to play in any sort of 'official' capacity. They can then added to my existing force as an addition for any mega games (and perhaps try out some painting/conversions I might not otherwise do!) I'll be buying up a couple of everything for the tomb kings. I am missing a huge selection of their plastic kits anyway (and always need more chariots!). I'm really hoping that the horses remain the same old sprue- I brought a huge bulk lot of tomb kings a few years back which included a lot of chariots! I was dead excited, until they arrived and I found that the chariots didn't have a single horse with them! (My own fault for not paying attention to the listing!) I'll buy like a whole pallet of Skeleton Horse Archers boxes then! The skeleton bits will be added to the bits box and the horses will revive the mass chariots! I'm trying to decide if I would also 'officially' base either the dark elves, lizardmen, or ogres as well. All armies that I have now collected all the models I want for, but not finishing painting a single thing for! For me, the old world is a chance to dedicate 12-24 months of dedicated WFB buying & painting to finally get into the backlog after so many years. But I don't think the rules/base changes/new models will really affect anything I'm doing anyway! After that, I suspect the game will have morphed into what ever GW actually want the game to be (Much like AoS & necromunda have done) which won't be what I want, so I will make the most of it whilst it does appeal to me!

Oathmark style movement trays for my 20mm bases, and then whatever the cavalry equivalent will be and I'm done. I'm going to keep collecting and basing for 8th and the other legacy editions, and if there's anything cool and new for TOW High Elves, I'll buy that. Now I just need the rules and I'm set to jump into TOW.

The current impact on my hobby is, that I will wait until TOW release before doing any major purchases of older kits. Once / if they re-release those kits my hunt for war machines will begin

I'm not ready to switch into WH:TOW mode yet. I need more information. I have a whole Tomb Kings army waiting to be painted. Once we get closer to WH:TOW launch, if I like what I see, I'll start painting Tomb Kings with purpose.

I don't think we'll be getting a 'Big Box' More like faction starter boxes... No we aren't getting a "starter set" in terms of something like 40k and AoS' recruit/command editions. They confirmed though that something like the heresy boxset is not considered a "starter set" so we will definitely get a 2 faction big box with a rulebook.

For the next edition I’ll be making a nee Arbaal the undefeated model (it’s just before pragg), orcs are looking very appealing now I’m stocking avatars of war 😅 I’ll just see how it goes.
