For me, honestly, it doesn't really change anything. I'll actually probably focusing on getting models that had been discontinued for my 8th edition armies (mostly Bretonnia). I'll pick up any "launch" box they do (probably 2) and then see how it plays. If I don't like it, I'll just go back to playing 8th.

I am into WFB since 3rd.Edition (1983/4) I lost sight over the thousands of Minis I have collected over time. Even if 50% of what I have is 30k/40k related, I could probably field 7 of the TOW 9 Core Armies and 2 or three of the Non-Core but PDF'd ones.
BUT : Back in 8th. I always wanted to built a Khemri Army. Shortly after I took the decision to built it, GE pulled the plug for WFB. So I never bought any of the Khemri Minis.
Last year, I started a VC army for 8th. and Warhammer CE and a Ulric Army for WAP...Now I surely can use many of these Minis for new TOW Armies....
Always provided, the rules will be fun to play.
So as far as new models are concerned, I will surely pick up my Khemri plans again and might add some new models to existing armies ( Bretonnia, O&G, ...)

Yeah, I'm in the 'let's see what we get and then I'll decide what to do' camp too.
But if they rerelease any old Bret kits, I might get some. IF they price them realistically and not in direct competition with current E-bay prices, which - given the prices they are charging for new kits - is increasingly unlikely.

After seeing them charge $33.50 for a freaking SKINK (they're tiny) nothing is impossible anymore

The announcement isn’t going to change my focus, I’m still going to continue to add to my Lizardmen and start my chaos dwarf project.
However the recent announcements have given me a renewed vigour to step up the pace.
And to rescale everything I have printed for my chaos dwarfs so far now that they will be using 25mm for TOW.

i wont be rebasing anything, but will i have 70k of orcs and goblins, i have large-ish collections of dwarfs, high elves and bretonnians. i think the brets are the only ones i'd entertain trying to "update" to 300 years prior to 8th... the models are not as well painted or based as they deserve (even the peasants deserve better!!) but any new models purchased from the other 3 factions will be to fit my 8th ed collections

To say TOW has renewed my interest in WHF overall would be a massive understatement!
While I remain the hobby butterfly I always was, over the last few years I have returned to WHF projects pretty constantly. As pointed out over here, I strongly consider doing some armies on the new base sizes, but at the same time I have also been working on older WHF armies of mine that will stay with the base conventions of today. I would also never rebase models that are already painted!
Of my ongoing projects right now I will stay with the current bases with:
- Ogres. I started 2023 with an attempt to work on my massive pile of grey of these by "just paint one Ogre a week". It has been going much better than I expected, and while I will still have characters and the bigger things to do later, by the end of this year I will actually run out of the regular Ogre bodies on foot! This army will stay on its current bases, and I have no intention of doing any future models on bigger bases either. If at all, there will be some multibases for units to be used with TOW rules.
- Vampire Counts. While the painted portion of it is not too impressive, I have a massive amount of VC stuff. I have no plans to move any of them to the new basing, and will continue work on the army with its current base sizes.
- Orcs&Goblins. I am split on these, but at least for the Nightgoblin infantry I will keep the 20mm bases now as well as in the future. Those rank up nicely as they are, and I do not like their look with too much space around each goblin. I have a solid hatred for how difficult to rank up some of the Orc stuff is though - Savage Orcs, Black Orcs and the cavalry in particular - so I am holding back on these right now to do them on bigger bases later on. For the time being I am painting Nightgoblins and some common Orcs, which will keep me busy for some time anyway.
In terms of projects specifically for TOW I have plans for:
- Orcs&Goblins. As I just mentioned, I want to do some of their units on the upcoming bigger bases. Already painted models can get multibase adapters later on, and I also might do more common Orcs on the new bases as well. Both are things for the not too near future though.
- Tomb Kings. I might be in a minority here, but I like the chonky skeletons of the late 90s. Never was a fan of ranking them up though, so TOW was a nice excuse to try some out on 25mm bases... and I like it! So some infantry is WIP already, which may or may not be done when TOW drops. Either way I am looking forward to slowly build a TK army completely for TOW.
- Dwarfs. I have more of these than I am comfortable to admit, and a good chunk of the older range works just fine on 20mm bases. Having said that, the brilliant newer plastics (Longbeards/Hammerers and Ironbeards/Irondrakes) are a pain to rank up and do not even look good packed so tight. I put some of them on 25mm bases and was (again) impressed by how much I liked it. So I have already started building units of those with TOW in mind, likely to see some solid expansion later on.
- Warriors of Chaos. Some might see a theme here: I hate ranking up most of the WoC range. An excuse to put them on bigger bases is most welcome to me, and I am holding back on doing anything for this army for now. What I might do in the meantime is just building some units without basing any of the models, but I have enough to do as it is...
There is more, but this stuff has the best chance of actually getting done anytime soon.
