To save having to get a ton of little adapters for each base, it probably makes more sense to get something like below. Since more than likely you'd need new movement trays also, just do a two birds one stone.

That's a good way of doing it - although, if you need to change formation, it may not be helpful...

It also doesn't work if you have models on old bases + buy a new TOW character who only fits on a larger base. Likewise if you have a unit of TOW models that you want to use with a WFB character on old base size.
Base adapters really are the most flexible way to do things.

Hmm, at first I was thinking similarly, using trays or adapters to fix the issue of new base sizes. But I think I will opt for rebasing, one army (or even unit) at a time. It's really not that bad and its much faster than painting a new army. Main reason being, and I dont mean to upset people who do opt for this solution, is simply that I think it looks hideous.
The trays will make it look as if the entire unit is skirmishing and it will be annoying with changing formations etc. Either way, you will need dozens of differen (modular) sizes of trays and at that point you might as well just rebase for a couple evenings.
The adapters, apart from the MDF ones in this thread will make the bases super clonky. Like every base has their own safety carbumper. The alternative is glueing them in and resanding/flocking. The other adapters you either need to paint or flock aswell (which is annoying on a 2-3mm edge) if you dont want to make your unit look like a swish cheese footprint filled with ugly black or bare lines.
Ah wel, each to their own I guess. Thank god for gorilla glue at least.

Just got my order from Greenstuffworld.com of 200 x 20mm to 25mm base converters. So far they work great. Unfortunately they don’t offer converters for Cavalery or Heavy Infantry. Anyone has a solution for this already?

Just had a look at the ebay seller you mentioned. He has quite a good range of MDF adapters and trays. Just ordered a few of each.

Are Sarissa in the States as well or are you looking to order from UK? Got loads of trays from Sarissa, always been good quality and quick turnaround. The 2 parts of the tray were always separate though (the base and the lip that goes on top) - so you have to glue them. Just received my first converter trays from Warbases (also UK) and they seem the same quality but the two parts are ready glued. Not done the price comparison but I imagine they are very similar. Circa £2.50/£3 a tray.

2mm or 3mm height is the depth of the slot the model’s base sits in (or of the lip on a conventional tray). I went for 3mm as that is just about flush with the top of a citadel base.
(N.B. This is in addition to the tray base being 2mm thick plus texture on top of the frame if you want it to match your bases so the height of the outer facing of my trays ends up being about 6mm which is quite chunky).
If you ordered with bases you would get say enough 20mm individual mdf bases to fill the tray. Assuming your stuff is already on citadel bases you will want without bases.
Also I notice those Sarissa ones seem to be bigger than the footprint of the relevant model’s bases, as though it is still a tray with a lip on. The converter trays I just got from warbases are the exact footprint of the models’ bases which I think is better because it makes it much easier to judge where the models “bases” are. The inner struts of the converter frame should be thicker than the outer ones not the other way round.

I've ordered enough of these Base Adapters for my whole High Elf and Skaven army. From the example video they have posted it seems like they're slightly flexible and can be taken off and put back on with minimal fuss so I can still play 7th/8th. I won't have them in my hot little hands until late February, but if they come as advertised, I'll post my results here. I've settled on these because in my games so far, redressing ranks and reforming have played a huge part in achieving my first victories, and doing that accurately with adapter trays isn't going to be accurate or convenient at all.

Those adapters look good TyrrenAzureblade if they do work as advertised - good price too.
Could you share some details of your game experiences that you’ve mentioned? I’ve just got one 1250 pt game in so far.
Like I said was my plan earlier in this thread I’ve got multiple converter trays in different configurations to allow reforming in game - just like I’ve got a wide selection of trays for 8th. I’ve got a small number of single base adapters - mainly for skirmishers but I could use them to put an extra file on the side of a tray if needed. If I find I’m constantly wanting to reform into unusual widths I may have to get some more though.
