The only times I've taken ambushing they had nowhere to ambush! Opponents always kept troops close enoigh to edges the only viable place wqs my own line advancing, so not good love the idea but too easily countered. Did your opponent keep his forces close to their own rear board edge too? Because if not they could have Ambushed round the back rather than on the flanks.

Yes, no space there either But I guess if you're up against people happy to advance towards you, go ahead, I usually find that my opponents sit back and let me come as they shoot me. I've also been using a Doombull instead of a beastlord for general... which obviously doesn't help ambush like a beastlord/wargor would as general.
