Hi, I'm painting a Warriors of Chaos army, mostly using 1990's models. Some of those models are timeless in my opinion, while some do not compare too well with modern stuff, at least when it comes to details and posing etc. But this is still the type of look I want in my Warhammer right now, so let's get to work: This is my latest accomplishment. Yup, they're single-pose, but they have shiny varnish and a classic champion model to lead them. Here's a champion/sorcerer of Tzeentch I painted earlier. He's up to no good, I'll tell you. No good at all. I've got a few other things painted up that I might use for this army as well. And I'm currently working on the plastic/metal knights. I'll get a few more pictures up when I can find the time. Thanks for having a look!

Awesome stuff, I actually love those plastic Chaos Warriors and the gloss varnish is awesome! Nice Work.
The Champion of Tzeentch on the disc is a great, classic model. Good job with the paint!
Looking forward to see more of your classic Chaos...

Thanks a lot for the friendly comments! Yes, they are just generally bad to the bone, although I could probably slap a mark on them rules-wise should the need arise.

I like that up-to-no-good champion. so...you painted two of these? one extra for your avatar?
The disc is a little too 'no frills' compared to the modern offerings. but, that's only me.

Awesome glossy regiment and I really like the Tzeentchian wizard sculpt. I'm actually not familiar with it which is rare. I'm not huge on the disk which reminds me of a cookie but the wizard itself is exceptional and I like your painting job a lot. He really stands out.
Your Chaos warriors are very menacing.

I agree with the others, the warriors look cool in a unique way. Go with that look. And the wizard is thinking about dark deeds indeed...

Your stuff looks really good, I like the disc sorcerer I have done a similar thing in painting up my Chaos Warriors in a sort of brass, undivided look. I have bought a retro champion for each god and have been getting some different banner tops for each which I will be magnetising. I certainly can't be bothered painting different regiments for each god and like to change my lists around

Thanks a lot everyone for your friendly comments! Really looking forward to partaking in the activities here! I agree that wizard is a great sculpt, and that the disc is a bit uninspired at least in comparison. I had absolutely no idea what to do with it and pink was a bit of a gamble. Happy to have it done anyway. so...you painted two of these? one extra for your avatar? The avatar is a part of the same picture, but I ran it through a photo filter to make it look more like a 2D-image and less like a photographed 3D model. Just for fun! I have done a similar thing in painting up my Chaos Warriors in a sort of brass, undivided look. I have bought a retro champion for each god and have been getting some different banner tops for each which I will be magnetising. I certainly can't be bothered painting different regiments for each god and like to change my lists around I'll be looking forward to follow your painting progress! I'm going for three units of warriors. This one of 18 undivided, one of 12-15 Khorne halberdiers in red, and one of 12-15 Nurgle guys in green. The knights I'm working on now will have different metallic colours. So, this will not be an army with an overall unified colour scheme. I like some variation and it's fun to try out different schemes while painting

I have to admit I don't care much for old plastics, but you did a really fine job with the classic Champion of Tzeentch.

Thanks! I'm afraid there will indeed be quite a lot of old plastic on show here... At least I'm moving on from 90's single-pose to 90's multi-part...

Nothing wrong with the old single pose minis. A lot of them have a certain charm which some of the new models lack. For example I still love the single pose chaos dwarfs from years ago and have a regiment of single pose beastmen.

Guess what? I got distracted from the Warriors project and painted these guys instead. Nothing much, but two painted models are better than no painted models. In fact, it's better than one painted model as well.

I look forward to seeing your progress!
I am also not a fan of the old plastics, in fact I got rid of all my old plastics when the new ones came out! I did keep a lot of bits for conversions and the like so you will occasionally see some old arms/weapons/standards, etc...
I love those empire! Good choice of color, nice shading and highlighting. Having models on hand like this can really break up the monotony that is black plate armor. (I know, my warriors also proudly rock black plate)
That being said I love the gloss and I love the old champions! I may have to borrow a page from your book and experiment with my next regiment of Warriors (working on halberds atm) giving them glossy plate armor.
I do love how comically large the handguns are.

Man I sure like the 6th edition Empire stuff more than the 7th. I still remember when everyone used to make fun of them for having no shoes! Lovely job on the red/green, very appealing.
