So just popped to the local GW store here in the UK.. thought I'd go & check out all their old world stuff, only to be presented with... 1 box of tomb kings & that's it! Wasted trip - I wonder if its just a 1-off, or are they not supporting ToW?

Wasted trip - I wonder if its just a 1-off, or are they not supporting ToW? To be honest it's all going to depend on the size of your local GW, and specifically the size of its Specialist Games shelf - GW stores now dedicate only relatively small shelves to holding stock for all non-40K games, so TOW stock will be jostling with stuff for the Horus Heresy, Middle-Earth, Blood Bowl, Necromunda e.t.c. for space. My nearest GW has a pretty darn small Specialist Games shelf so I'm not counting on them to stock much for TOW, whereas another I know of has quite a lot more space dedicated to Specialist Games so is more likely to have some TOW stuff. I'd certainly better recommend trying any FLGSs you have in your area, they'll be more dedicated to supporting TOW alongside everything else and should be making more of an effort to get it in.

Just tried another, different store.. same story - just a single sad-looking launch box sat on its own - nothing around it. It doesn't look like it's going to be supported in-store, which I find bizarre!

They still struggle to produce the pre-ordered units. My FLGS did not receive a single box yet. So far only the Rulebook, Forces of Fantasy, Ravaging Hordes and the Arcane Journal for Khemri were delivered.

I'm several hours away from the closest GW owned store. So I can't speak about what stock they have. But I know my FLGS didn't get everything they tried to order. Some items were listed on the order sheet. But the order quantity was changed to zero after the fact. And everything metal and resin are restricted to direct orders only. All that is pretty disappointing and kind of sets up the game for failure.
Personally for me there are very few models I need to buy. I have twenty years worth of unpainted models already. But if I was a new player it would be plenty annoying for sure.

It's not just in shop stock - Seems like they can't keep anything stocked - GW need to rethink their strategy - They have underestimated sales in TOLW and will then start whingeing about people getting models from elsewhere! Get a grip and start understanding your fan base and required stock levels - Very bad sales management
