What are the unit sizes and formations you are using? I see a lot of people simply deploy their units as though they are playing an older edition of WFB. This is the wrong way to do it, because you want to maximize attacks at the same time as receiving some static combat res.
If you have a unit fo say 25 Black Orcs, they shouldn't be deployed 5x5 for example. I'd prefer them 6x4 or 7x3.
I'm still playing with a unit of 50 Goblins 10x5 (with spears) and they are extremely effective.
How are you deploying?

For High Elves, I'm deploying my elite infantry in 7x3 or 8x3. Spear elves in 6 wide formations, usually 6x5 especially since they have Martial Prowess so I want to be able to have beefy fighting ranks in the flanks. Although I've been phasing them out to have bigger Phoenix Guard units for my anvil unit and going with 20+ archers usually 10x2 with Ellyrian Reavers in units of 5. Now that Drilled has been clarified though, I may deploy my Drilled units (Swordmasters, Phoenix Guard and Dragon Princes) in Marching formations to get across the field faster.

For a unit without drilled, to get into Marching columns if not already in that formation takes up the full move correct?
So a non drilled unit really needs to deploy in column formation to be able to use it?
