This may be a silly question but can you take Free Company Militia as a stand alone unit, so they are NOT a detachment?
I was under the impression that because they have the rule 'Detachment', they are the one unit that you couldn't take without them being attached to a regimental unit.

Hm... in the "Sigmar's Blood" campaign, the Empire player has a free company milita stand alone unit in the third and fourth scenario.

They can be standalone. they can be detachments, they can't be the main regiment with detachments of its own.

What Naitsabes says. Empire AB p. 31: "Units that can purchase Detachments have the Regimental Unit special rule. Units that can be fielded as a Detachment have the Detachment special rule. Some units have the option to be either a Regimental Unit or a Detachment, though they cannot be both [...]. The operative word in each of these cases is "can." GS can only be taken as a Regimental Unit, but that does not mean you always need to use them as such and take Detachments with them.
