For those of you who have had some games. How often are you changing formation?
For non-drilled units are you using Marching columns much?

Before Drilled got FAQ'd, I was running my High Elf Swordmasters and Phoenix Guard without Drilled just to not get into the weeds about the rule with my opponent. I did not use Marching Column much. Now post FAQ, I've deployed Swordmasters in Marching Column to counter an opponent's deployment a couple of times. I'm currently working on a list with more cavalry with Dragon Princes and intend to attempt using Marching Column with them.

After a fair few games, my impression is that to get the very best use of quite a few units and to get the maximum advantage of formations and their rules, you need to be considering whether to change formation at key points during the game. At a basic level this could be purely to utilise march column and drilled, skirmish to open order etc. I think mastering this, will be the difference between the very best competitive players.
That said, it’s a pain it the ass and slows the game down further so, at least initially, most players won’t bother using it much bar the obvious 2 stated above.
It also means that using spacer trays becomes even more fiddly and pushes you towards either rebasing or using individual base expanders (unless you are also playing someone who hasn’t rebased or someone who doesn’t care/can use math to work out base size differences!).
