Sorry, the 9th Age has passed the point of no return for me.

Agree that GW seem to be more customer focused now (in so far as happy customers buy more). I think this has a lot to do with the new CEO and the move away from the 'we are just a miniatures company' stance. This seemed to start around the time of the AoS generals handbook. It's a shame they butchered WFB as their tester for the new 40k, which, actually sounds quite good and it might get me to retry the game (I gave it a go last year but found the bloated ruleset difficult to get into, especially as a lot of the rule terms matched WFB but acted differently. It did make me somewhat appreciate the argument for simplifying the rules for AoS to allow greater access to the game. But jeez skirmish. Just no!). Our club, for the first time, started kow this year and again due to the simple rules, it made it really easy to get into and try. It is a good game and one of the best things about it is how quickly you can finish an equivalent sized game. I will continue to play it but it isn't WFB and the list building (one of my favourite elements) is completely inferior. I know quite a few local tournament players like it as it's so balanced but that actually puts me off. I like the challenge of using sub-par/fluff units once it a while + the masses of variety available. As for 9th, I played a few games and it was ok. The near constant updates to the rules is what put me off. ok in fairness it was steady for a bit but if you have limited game time, sometimes just 1 game a month, then having to keep up with shifting goalposts is too much. Oh and they removed random charge distances. That rule is hands down one of my favourites in 8th. Sorry for the massive post 😀

Way too much for me to keep up with. I simply don't have the time to keep re-learning the rules. If 8th was a horrible mess of rules, then I'd probably dive into it, but I like 8th, so I don't see the necessity in learning and re-learning the rules over and over.

I don't really feel T9A people progressed the rules in the direction I would have liked. I don't think the "improvements" which have been made warrant a switch of editions and I'll be sticking with 8th and all my nice official books etc

Has anyone here looked at the 8.5 project? It's something I'm aware was going on but I've not delved into it yet. I think 8.1 just added the official GW errata into the rule books.

If 8th was a horrible mess of rules, then I'd probably dive into it, but I like 8th, so I don't see the necessity in learning and re-learning the rules over and over. Say wot mate? Lol, because my wife and I have 2-yr Old quadruplets, I simply don't have very much time to play. If I get a chance, I want to have fun, so it's simply easier, faster and less involved than learning a whole new system and terminology. I just had to reserve my wife a hotel room for next weekend JUST so that she can get a full night's sleep without it being interrupted or waking before the sun gets up! She totally deserves it though, and she's going to let me have the next Saturday to play with my friends. Fair trade. Now, I don't have anything against 9th age efforts, in fact I supported them a lot when they were getting started (I think you can still find images of my models on their web page), but with all the constant changes to the rules, I simply didn't have the time to devote to it. If I were convinced that they perfected a new formula that was MUCH better, balanced and not subject to change, then I'd be willing to try IF my companions wanted to as well. As of right now, we're happy with 8th.

I need to get a computer that will play these games. That's my takeaway from all this Pretty much the same here but then I would also need to spend/make time to play these games and I would rather check out this forum, paint minis, play warhammer, read about warhammer, etc. So overall what they do with the computer game is not that important to me as I don't see it impacting the group that I play warhammer 8th edition with one bit.
