It does look great. That plastic empire general kit is a great kit

How any points is this list? It seems small, perhaps too many characters/single units?

I was a little worried that I may have included too many characters/toys in 2000 points and not enough bodies but at 2000 points...what do you drop?
I was thinking that at 2000 points the "triple threat" of the halberds, swords, and stank would be enough, I can use the hurricanum in a pinch as a way to try and help provide some punch to a combat, while the cannon, helblaster, and pistoliers (and most likely cavalry, I think I want to rework the list to include a unit of heavy cav "chaff") deal with chaff and flankers and things my average troops cannot handle in close combat.
My priority when taking it up to 2500 would be more bodies to better flush out the list.

Swardmen = Defensive & better at hitting Halberdiers = Stronger Spearmen = Bus Formation & 3rd row of attacks Militia = Horde formation & 2 Hand Weapons = 40 attacks Archers = Long range shooting & Stand and Shoot Crossbowmen = Long range shooting & stronger Handgunners = Armor piercing shooting Knights = Mobility & 1+/2+ armor save & +1/+2 strength (also the ability to make them Inner Circle)
This is how I decide what I need for my matchups. Knights are hard to go wrong with, but they are few. Small roving bands like you mention are great for clearing chaff or escorting a mounted wizard. Otherwise, I think they are best in 2-3 units of 10-16 strong. I prefer to take one as Inner Circle, one as White Wolfs (GW unit) and one Reiksguard. Those three really spread out what you need something for whatever your opponent brings. Pistoliers, Outriders and a Stank can make your units very strong. Spread out mounted Captains, Warrior Priests and Wizards among these guys and have a few Captains on Pegasus' flying to where you need them, then you have a strong army. Set a cannon or two in the corners and you'll have some good cover fire as well as something to draw your opponent's army apart so that you can focus your attacks on a split enemy.
Oh - and Demigryph Knights. I can't stress enough how good these guys are. So many people are down on them for fluff reasons, but the plain fact is, they're good. I think a lot of people just want Empire to be average at everything. They break that mold. I ran a unit of 9 Demis up against an Ogre Bus in a frontal attack and won. (I got the charge off on them, but still.) That should tell you how good they can be.

Demis should be at least 5 or they don't reach the other side. Mine don't anyway

Demis should be at least 5 or they don't reach the other side. Mine don't anyway Ouch! They are certainly bringing a lot of attention, huh!?!
Usually, I'll bring either 4, or 2 units of 3-4. The only time I put so many into one unit is in cases like the Ogres, where I know I'll be facing an Ogre Bus or something like that.

Hey all it's me again, I was thinking that once I'm done with Skaven and Dark Elves I would work on Empire after that. Now I know that this is a seriously long time away and it seems silly to be thinking about it already but there are two reasons why I have elected to do this; one because I enjoy list building and two I don't have a lot of Empire models and so it will be nice over the next 6 months or so to know what ebay auctions to watch out for, and know which GW kits I should save my money for if I decide to buy it new. Without further ado, here is my 1st draft of the list, let me know what you think. Lords: Battle Wizard Lord lvl4 with Lore of Life. Dispel scroll, Talisman of Preservation Heroes: Captain of the Empire General w/ plate armor, enchanted shield, luckstone Captain of the Empire bsb w/ armor of destiny, shield Master Engineer Warrior Priest w/ armor of silvered steel, ironcurse icon, great weapon Core: 40 Halberdiers w/ full command 30 Swordsmen w/ full command Special: 5 Pistoliers w/musician 5 Pistoliers w/musician Great Cannon Rare: Celestial Hurricanum Steam Tank Helblaster First of all I think Empire armies should follow some kind of theme, I'm not talking painted or anything but say, fully mounted, all infantry, magic or warmachine heavy. They generally take advantage of that aspect of the game. Now 2000 points isn't a lot so your choices are limited but ALL the types of army are supported by the best weapon in the game, the great cannon. Now you've selected a steam tank, for point’s denial it’s a good choice but it rarely gets its points back, personally I’d trade it in for another two great cannons. Now I owned an Empire army (6th-7th edition, didn’t really work in 8th) so I didn’t have the Hurricanum or Luminark but I’d have thought the Luminark would be the better choice, the ward save is a nice idea. The extra dispel dice can make a great difference. Your choice of spell lore is understandable, I did the same recently with my Lizards but unless you get Throne of vines it’s just an average lore. Yes dwellers is good, well all the spells are good just better if you have ToV. I like the priest, an obvious target so nice to see the armour on him. Personally if you’re going with this style of list I’d drop the Stank for two cannons, the Hurricanum for a Luminark and I’d really like to see a Captain on a Pegasus as a war machine hunter. Not easy in 2000 points I know. Just curious (and I’m guilty of not reading ALL the posts before hand. The Pistoliers, are they there as warmachine hunters or diverters? Greg

The Pistoliers are there to act as diverters.
I'm not planning on using the Steam Tank to kill things, it's there to act as flank support and anchor a flank and/or tie up a dangerous enemy that I'll in turn need to flank myself. Then I can just sit around and grind/steam cannon it to death.
