I just read that some people give a free reroll if the opponent is over by 15 points or so. Cannot remember on which forum I read that I remember a tournament where every player got one reroll for the entire tournament. Do you guys ever use stuff like that in your casual games?

I've heard of that as well. I've never played with rules like that though. I don't really see the point. What's the incentive? It seems like it'd just eliminate those rare cases where something slips through that shouldn't (like a Skaven Slave wounding a Chaos character). That's part of the thrill of rolling the dice for me. Makes the game less predictable.

nope, part of the charm of list-building is keeping oneself within those point limits, applies to me as well as my opponent.

I'd much rather just add another body or two to a unit if I'm deficient in points.
I don't think I've ever used that single reroll ability (never thought to, but sounds fun).

Rerolls are the most powerful game mechanic in Warhammer.

I don't play over points so it's never come up. However rerolls are extremely useful, we had a tournament for charity a few years ago and you could buy rerolls there.

Are there items thatdie give you a reroll? Depends on what sort of reroll you mean. Tricksters helm, dawnstone, luckstone, Rampagers standard, gleaming pennant, the other tricksters shard, rune of luck but all of these are limited as they are usually situational. The only thing that comes to mind would be the staff of tomorrow owned by Kairos fateweaver that allows any die to be rerolled. Greg

Makes the game less predictable. That was me that posted about the rerolls in the other topic. The incentive is for the 'over pointed' to not go over their points. The reroll is absolutely a big asset which is why it is given to the player who actually brought a 2000 point army rather than a 2020 points one. The first time I ever used the reroll was a game I was games mastering between 2 mates and one of them was over the limit but didn't want to drop anything ("it's only 15 points what's the big deal"). So i said fine, your opponent gets a single reroll he can use for anything was my response (i just wanted to get the game started). So that's how it came about....and if i recall the reroll was used on a ward save to keep his bsb alive so it definitely made a difference. So I'm basically in agreement with you and giving up a reroll is absolutely designed to penalise the olayer with more points but doesn't require them to change anything or delay the game/create further issues.

In the mega battle that a group of us played at DaBoyz in 2016 the scenario included various special rules but one special rule was that each side received a special trinket that could be used to re-roll a single set of dice during the game. And then as Greg notes above there are various magic items that I have used and had used against me in games that allow various types of specific re-rolls. But I have never played with re-rolls just because.

Rerolls are part of the game, BSB being the most obvious, you pay a price for this in points (cost of hero plus 25 usually) I'd not like to see rerolls given out because people have over spent on their armies. They shouldn't over spend...
